I detailed a Harley with black paint and experienced the same thing. It was hands down the softest paint I had ever worked with. You could literally scratch it by wiping just barely too hard with a quality microfiber.
Ain't that the truth! To aggravate things I pick up a lot of road grime due to static, especially since I started using UQD/UQW on it. I use a strong ONR mix in a spray bottle and a super-plush MF for quick wipedowns with minimal marring. Gotta check out some of the QDs that tout anti-static properties and see what they're worth.
I finished mine up with 3M Ultrafina and the most gentle wiping motion I could muster. Won't be doing any more Harleys any time soon, though...
I don't have that option, it's my daily rider when the snow is off the roads. Trying to keep it wet-looking obviously isn't an option. Guess I'll save the serious polishing for the once-a-year winter exercise.
gee, that is an impressive job you did on that Denali, Nick! And yes, didn't you once say the surgery was for some back problems? No fun none the less! Get well as soon as possible! We want to see more perfection!
Thanks for all the kind words guys! I have my 1st post op Dr appointment this afternoon at 2:15. So keep your fingers crossed that everything is ok and I'll be released back to full duty!! But I'm sure being only 2 weeks out from surgery that he's gonna keep me tied down
