  • Detailed: "Toyota Passo" lookalike - Ivory White

Last Friday, a buddy of mine told me to take a look at his car and wondered if I can help to increase the gloss. So after much discussion, he dropped the car on Friday night. By the way, this car aint no Passo, its a Perodua Myvi.

So here goes. Not much was done on the interior and undercarriage; work was more focused on exterior and engine cleanup.

    Car upon arrival:

Holograms on the C pillar. Swirls on the spoiler

Some sanding marks were also found at the rear pillar.

    Not that bad.

Some light oxidization on both the headlights.

Yummy! Holograms on the front passenger door

More at the back. More holograms on the front hood and roof.

Front wheels need some serious cleaning. Brake dust in the barrel.

    Interior

Not much pictures on the interior. This is the only shot that was clear. The rest was blurry.

The leather seats in the car was very hard and dry.

Engine was lightly soiled with dust.

After washing it last night (finished around 12midnight, took some picture of more defects that I missed next morning.

    Process and Tools

    Engine Bay:
    • Engine + fenders PW'd to remove loose grime.
    • Meguiars APC plus & Super Deg sprayed on engine compartment (let to dwell for around 2minutes)
    • Agitated with various brushes and cotton towel.
    • PW to rinse
    • Dried with Compressed Air and demoted MFs.
    • Painted parts on the engine bay+underhood got polished with D151
    • Sealed with M21 2.0
    • Rubber seals treated with M40
    • Other plastics (hoses, covers, etc) treated with HyperDressing 3:1

    Wheels:
    • PW to remove loose grime
    • Wheel wells cleaned with APC+, agitated with various brushes.
    • Wheels cleaned with APC+.
    • Wheel barrels deep cleaned with Wheel Brightener 10:1
    • Tires cleaned with Super Degreaser 10:1
    • All agitated with various brushes.
    • PW to rinse.
    • Dried via compressed air and MFs for wheels.
    • Hand polished with D151 and topped with M21 2.0
    • Tires dressed with Meguiars Endurance (owner likes glossy tires)
    • Wheel wells treated with HyperDressing.

    Body:

    • PW to remove loose dirt
    • Hyperwash and Meguiars MF mitt.
    • Meguiars SlideLock brush to clean the roof's "gutter", emblems and various nooks & crannies.
    • PW to rinse
    • Dried with Water Magnets
    • IPA wipedown on all surface

    Correction on Body
    • G220, M205, yellow polishing pad+ KBM - worked like a charm! (2-3 passes on every panel) -
    • Paint's thickness was quite low. 75 microns(lowest) and up to 127microns. Deeper defects were left to be.
    • Tighter spots - LC 4inch pads on DA was used
    • Sanding marks on the C pillar corrected with G220+M105+yellow pad+KBM - one pass its all gone!
    • IPA wipedown to just re check work.
    • Sealed with "flavor of the month" (only at my house LOL) M21 2.0 x 2 coats (forgot how easy this was to apply)
    • Glass wipe with IPA, hand polished with M04, rewipe with IPA and sealed with RainX.
    • Plastic headlights received similar treatment with body.
    • Cowl treated with Endurance Shine - rewipe to remove excess
    • Roof rubber lining treated with M40
    • Matte paint on the bumpers were treated with HyperDressing 3:1
      (Turned out very nice indeed!)

    Interior

    • Thorough vac throughout the interior
    • Interior plastic and leather seats wipe with APC.
    • Leather seats were rewiped with RO water.
    • Interior plastics, rubber seals treated with M40
    • Leather protected with Step 2 Leather Moisturizer (really made the leather softer and deepened the color)
    • Foot pedals cleaned with APC+
    • Grease spots cleaned with APC+ and GooGone.
    • Door jambs hand polished with D151 topped with M21 2.0
    • Door handle polished with D151
    • Noodle carpets PW'd and brushed with APC+. Air dry.

    Here are the results!

    Interior

    Engine Bay:

Sorry for the overexposed shots. Still trying to learn proper use of my PnS camera.

All the painted parts inside the engine bay was cleaned up real good. Spend around 3hours polishing with hand app.

    Exterior:

    Glass like reflection.

    Glossy indeed!

    My favorite shot!

Headlights restored to a better level.

    Overall shot of the car

The owner was ecstatic to see the gloss. He left with a big smile! His brother that tag along asked me to also enhance the gloss of his car. Another well booked weekend.
