  • Testing Correction..

The cold weather has yet to leave Virginia so I didn't pain myself for an entire detail. I'd gotten M105 & M205 for Christmas and have been wanting to try it since the day I got it. Obviously the cold weather put a real damper on what I wanted to do so I had to wait.

The last few days have been nice and we finally got a real decent day today and I cracked out the 7424xp and my other detail supplies I rounded up over the last two days.

It went as followed (all Meguiar products too , minus de-greaser lol)

I didn't follow up with m205 because I was doing small panels, not the entire truck. I've been itching to try this stuff, so yes, I wasted the product so I could know what this puppy could do!

50/50 correction on left rear panel

When we got hit with our "Blizzard" I'd parked the snow plow equipped ATV on a mound of snow I'd created. Later that evening I backed out slowly and into the ATV, I won't lie, I may do well backing up in Driver's Ed and in general, but any damage sustained on my vehicles is from me backing up . The damage could've been worse, but at least it was partially repairable. I love the blue of my truck because it hides damage well from a distance.

It was nearly dusk when I started so the blue is quite... neon in some of the pictures.

As good as it'll get for now. (About 4 passes)

That's some pretty serious correction on damage that would put a lot of MOL members to tears had it happened to their ride! Nicely done, and hopefully you can pull out a bit more.

Keep in mind, however, that if you can still feel some of those scratches even when visually they're almost gone, it's probably time to stop. You are potentially removing a lot of clear coat, and that can get dangerous after a while. You don't need to go all the way down to the color coat to run into problems. Sure, doing so is a problem at that moment in time, but removing too much clear coat sets you up for problems a year or two down the road. Clear coat failure chief among those.

From here on, proceed with caution on those scuffed areas.

    Darn nice work though!!

Oh yes, believe me I lost sleep and threw a fit when I realized what I'd done. I'm the only one in my family who gives a dang about vehicles and the worst seems to happen to my vehicles. Then again it was my error from the start. Had I done this to the GTP, I think I'd be done

I agree, I'm not too set on getting the deep ones out because I'm slowly replacing parts on it as it is and the bed is one of the pieces I've been trying to replace. It's quite good at concealing damage from a distance, but up close and personal it's disgusting damage.

As far as I know I'm the only owner of this Dakota that actually made an effort to correct damage done to it.

Thanks for the compliments on my first correction !

Great work kendra, making some good improvments. That is a nice shade of blue.

I had a new chevy s-10 back in 95 and every time I turned around I was bumping into something. Like you I tried my best to take care of it but things just kept happing.

Thank you kindly! I really do love the blue, which is most of the reason I have it. I loved the color, it runs strong (V8 at 110k mi) and I needed a truck since I have horses.

Exactly! It's so frustrating because you try your earnest to be careful and something always gets you no matter how careful you are. Which is one reason I rarely drive my GTP :P
