Saving a PT cruiser Interior

So I did this detail a while back, but just recently found pictures for it.... anyway the customer called to have her car cleaned up. She said it has been sitting for about 4 months due to a broke transmission and wanted me to come out and clean it up since it was fixed and ready for sale (minus the flat tire). She also said that the interior was a little dirty... ok we get there.... interior is horrible. There was food in every single crevice I could find, along with food we found a good amount of mold already forming... needless to say 5 hours into the detail we managed to get the interior looking OK. I just wanted to focus on getting rid of ALL debris and mold. The customer said the stains and such can stay, but being anal we removed everything. Here are some pics of this mess:

Sorry I managed to lose or delete accidentally some of the final pics of the stains completely removed and overall interior. Process used on the inside:

-vaccuum
-after seeing the mold and such the seats were removed
-everything was sprayed down with APC and brushed out by hand
-vaccuum
-sprayed with APC again
-used our little WEN polishers with 4" carpet brushes over entire carpet/seats
-vaccuum
-dash and plastucs were cleaned using APC
-dash and plastics were dressed with hyper dressing
-vaccuum
-everything was put back together
-used APC and some brushes again on the tougher stains that still came through
-vaccuumed last time
-Dakota Odor Bomb was used as well

Ouside:
-presoak with hyperwash and foamgun
-washed vehicle
-mild claybar
-Meguiar's M205 on wheels
-Zaino clear seal on wheels
-Meguiar's Endurance gel on tires
-D151 was used on paint

Nice turnaround on a truly horrible situation. Gotta love the shine on the flat tire, too!

But one has to ask...... looking at the back seat, did they keep pet squirrels back there? That mess was astonishing!!!

the owner was a 28 year old girl with 2 young boys and said she just never cared enough to stop them from eating in the car, hence the mess. She did say she has learned from her mistakes and her new car is pretty clean compared to this, lol

Nice save! Leave kids to their own devices and they'll do wonders for your interior....and not in a good way either! Hopefully she did learn her lesson on kids + food + car + nasty interior.
Mike you took the words right out of my mouth. When I saw the shinned flat tire the first thing I thought was .....ohh no he did not shine a flat!?!?!? and he did!

Looks real good and keep up the excellent work! I'm sure the owner won't have too much of a problem selling the car now...I mean c'mon it got a highly shinned flat tire!! LOL!

hey if it's on the car, it's getting cleaned... flat or not flat it's going to be the best looking tire ever! Funny thing is that the owner didn't even realize it was flat until I pointed it out to her.

Great save. Some of the things that people don't clean up after. Disgusting. Great work. Very impressive.

It was the only detail to date I did where I wore thick rubber gloves (not the latex ones) to clean the interior in fear of getting a rash or an allergic reaction due to the amount of moldy food I found

Good job on the interior detail, however I noticed the headlights are very hazy. This would have been a good opportunity to polish them and bring back some clarity.

I addressed that issue with her, but she didn't want the service.... Plus I spent much more time on the interior then initially anticipated, so I figured I gave her a deal anyways...

I wonder why people eat in their cars. It's inevitable that food will end in the crevices.

Nice job! I like PT Cruisers a lot so I enjoyed viewing this.

^^^^ so I'm 100% mobile, so I do eat in my car occasionally, but it never looks dirty or anything maybe cuz I clean up

omg that interior.... that is biohazard.... whats that stuff on the front passenger carpet in the after pic?

what is this dakota odor bomb that you used? how does it work?

that dent under the rear taillight looked like body styling at first glance....

did you roll the car a little to shine the bottom of tires(including the flat one)? hahahaha
