Pare, dramatic improvement on the Civic SiR!!! Any exterior pics of it? What products did you use and how much did you charge? Thanks pare!

OT question for Mike: Can you use the Meguiar's logo or name in a shop like this? Or do you have to ask for permission?

There is a program for support for people running detail shops and using Meguiar's products. The best thing to do is to contact your area Sales Manager. If you need help locating the Sales Manager for your area, send me an e-mail and I'll put you in contact with them.

In the picture, the engine exhaust manifold is a "header." Which are individual pipes for each cylinder of the engine, that are usually equal length that allow the exhaust pulses to flow smoother and not run into each other causing back pressure and poor flow. Headers allow for a much more efficient release of exhaust over a stock manifold. Imagine trying to exhale with your hand over your mouth, that's the difference between headers and stock.

On the intake however, it looks like the factory stock setup is being used. Like with the exhaust, the intake is not always made for highest efficiency, so one of the first improvements that are done to an engine is to "open up" the intake by removing the stock air box and replacing it with an 'open element' intake. Try the same trick of having your hand over your mouth, but try to inhale, harder isn't it? Now try running with your mouth covered.

An engine is simply an air pump, the more efficiently the air can go in and out, the more efficient the engine is. THe more efficient an engine is, the more power can be produced (and better fuel mileage).

Here is a picture of the intake on your customer's car vs a high-flow performance intake. The intake box on your customer's car only has a small opening on the bottom of the box for the engine to 'breathe' the filter on the performance intake has the whole filter exposed for increased airflow:

                        hi Don,

actually the bottom of the intake box is cut and directed towards the front bumper to take-in real cold air. this is like SPOON designed intakes. The intake on your pic will take-in hot air from the engine that I guess makes a difference. this is only my opinion, kindly check Spoon Japan website to know more about their designed. More power! Are you driving a Type R or an Integra?

Neither, I have a Cavalier LS Sport Coupe (AKA Z-24). It has the 2.2 DOHC. Unfortunately Chevrolet turns the power way down on 90% of their engines before they are released, so I only have 140hp/155tq. I can beat most Hondas/Acuras off the line and through most of 1st/2nd gear...but beyond that...plus I have a speed limiter at 106 mph

I do have a semi-ramair intake on it now (it's full ram in the summer) a 3" pipe connects to the bottom of the airbox, and is directly in the airstream at the other end. For the winter, I take off the lower section of tubing during the winter to prevent it from scooping up snow and getting packed closed. Right now the open end of the intake is inside the fender, protected from exposure to slush and snow, but it has plenty of cool air to feed it
