Decided today that I needed to get a coat of wax on the new Pilot as winter is approaching. I tried something different which I'm sure will scare many of you but it worked surprisingly well.
Began with a thorough wash of the exterior using a pressure wash and soap brush. Yeah I hate these things but unfortanately our temporary living arrangement makes it difficult to hand wash. After leaving the pressure wash I left the truck wet and drove it home, luckily the water didn't freeze before arriving.
I then took out a fresh microfiber and applied a good helping of NXT to it. I applied this directly on to the wet truck!!1
Believe it or not it was the fastest and easiest wax application I've ever done. I will note that if you attempt this to have several microfibers ready and change surfaces frequently to avoid swirls.
After applying wax to the entire truck I used my trusty blower to remove any water from the crevices, this also helped accelerate the NXT drying process.
Finally using a couple of fresh microfibers I removed the hazed wax, again this was one of the easiest removals I've ever experienced. The results were as expected, good depth and great reflections.
All in all I was able to detail the entire truck (paint, glass, trim, wheels, tires, lights, leather, carpets and interior trim in 3 hours, that is a record for me........oh and I'm as anal as they get when it comes to cleaning the vehicle.
Pros: Fast, Easy with great results
Cons: Used Alot of Product, not sure on durability.
Here's a couple shots, gotta love the beautiful Maine sunny days.
