Below I have posted some pictures of our 1994 Chevrolet. I posted the pictures not to show off the car or any skill I have detailing a car, but rather as a testament to how nice a car maintained with Meguiar’s products can look even as the years and miles roll by.
My wife and I purchased this car new in the winter/spring of 1994, over the almost 11 years since the car as gone nearly 110,000 miles and been used as a daily driver. The Beretta’s finish has been touched by nothing, I mean nothing, but Meguiar’s products since the time it rolled of the lot… actually neither as the interior. I believe I have been using the Medallion line of paint cleaner and protection on the paint since the first wax, but I may have used the good old 3-step process a couple of times when the car was brand new.
The pictures below were taken after an afternoon of cleaning and waxing the car for the onset of winter. First the car was washed with NXT Generation Car Wash and followed by a once over with Quik Clay. I then applied a coat of ColorX and #7, with a topcoat of Medallion Paint Protection; all were applied with a G-100. The black trim was detailed with Trim Detailer and the clear plastic was cleaned Mirror Glaze Clear Plastic Cleaner and topped with Clear Plastic Detailer. Finally the tires were sprayed with Hot Shine.
This was my first experience with claying a car and using ColorX; usually I use MPPC; and I must say both amazed me. I feel foolish for having never tried the Quik Clay before now after receiving it for Christmas 3 years or so ago.
I don’t know why but until I began reading the posts on this web site I thought it was a big production to use clay… boy I was wrong… it was so simple and straight forward by half way through the car I was allowing my 6 year old son give it a try. I have been using Meguiar’s products for 20 plus years, and in all of that time the results they produce have never once failed to make me stand back after I was done and say to myself “boy that turned out nice.
