Heavy rail dust removal on a white '08 Vette, by Rasky's Auto Detailing
Re: Heavy rail dust removal on a white '08 Vette, by Rasky's Auto Detailing
Gosh Rasky! Another great looking car pulling out of your garage! I have to ask, even though I think you've explained it before...how do you get the door jambs between the door and front 1/4 panel sooo clean!? That's the one area that still looks like rubbish on my cars because I don't know how to tackle it, unlike you. Truly show-car work!

Thanks Tyler!
Well this car was pretty clean but really all I do is spray some APC in there and agitate with various brushes, mitts, or towels. If they are really dirty a pre rinse with the pressure washer after letting some APC dwell works great too. I lower the pressure on it and have a wand that is short enough that I don't get any water in the interior.

Hmmmm, I will have to look for an alternative to the pressure washer (already know what I'd get too I think; those little pump sprayer bottles, if that makes any sense). I just wasn't too sure what the process other than that was. That and the hinges under the trunk are the only two places I couldn't think of how to tackle it. I will give that a shot the next time I can hand wash the cars! Thanks for the tip!

The pressure washer really does come in handy on door jambs like the ones below. Plus you don't trash your mitts and brushes, and it saves SOOOO much time. As long as you have the pressure set low, a wide pattern tip, and a wand that is short enough to get in there, it's great. Just don't be like that stupid lady in the youtube video hosing down the door panels and everything!

LOL, that looks so much better than wiping them down (smears), since my doorjambs look like that half the time unfortunately. I can wipe where the door seals up, but not into the hinges and such. I don't have a pressure washer, or a place to put one. I just can't get over how good they look! I will have to figure something out...when I have money to do so!

The Vette is a pristine job Rasky, but I have to ask ... How did the seatbelt turn out in the above blue vehicle? The seat looks great but can't see the end result on the seatbelt. I hate doing seatbelts so I'm hoping you'll share a secret.

You know what, I think its been almost 3 years since I did that Explorer...
It was just a dealer "Car Jockey" clean up so I probably didn't do much more than wipe it with APC and a towel.
I'd say a steamer would be your best bet for cleaning stubborn seat belts though.
