I like this one a lot better than the one I did for this guy in May.

I did this bike today, Only thing that was bad was the chrome, I spent about three hours polishing out the chrome making sure to get every nook and cranny of chrome on this bike. Was not easy but was not that hard either. Not sure If I want to detail a bike tomorrow although I might have to.

I would rather be detailing what you see in the background in this pic but thats not up to me.

    Re: 2006 Harley Detail

Nice job on that FLSTFI (better know as a Fatboy). I used to detail at a Harley shop and every time I see a thread like this I miss it.

You've been doing a good job, how many more cars/other things do you have to detail out there still?

I have a lot left to do for this client. He says he will have work for me for years. I have other clients as well so I have to keep them happy too.

It's nice work if you can get it.

Hey Nick, it could have been worse. The rims could have been spokes.
As usual, great work. Bike looks awesome.

            Nick,

Great job on the Harley! It doesn't look like it has ever seen the road.

J.A. Michaels is right, be glad it doesn't have spokes. I helped my boss detail his Harley right after he bought it. I didn't expect it to be so much work. After washing and drying, it was impossible to get all the drips. The drips just kept messing with the rest of the detailing (waxing, chrome polishing, etc...).

I'll stick to cars in the future.

              Thanks Mike

The air compressor made it a little easier on me, but surely water dripped from somewhere.

We I first started at the Harley shop we were using the air compressor as well. They then bought a blower vac type things so I wasn't constantly kicking on the compressor and it was more powerful and had a bigger endcap. Some shops even sell them in their department.

How long it the entire process take with wash and polishing? If I was on my "A" game I was able to do a basis wash and blow dry to about 20 bikes in a day. That was a long and tired day though.

Washing and drying took about an hour and a half. Claying the entire bike took an hour and the polishing and waxing took another hour.

The chrome took a very long time, three hours including the wheels. Plus all those small tight areas surrounding the handlebars are a pain.

then there was other little things that took up some time too.

Just kiddin'...there's a lot of nooks n' crannies to get into.
