  • What a wake up surprise...

One of the worst things to wake up to if you value your car even a little (which I think most of us value our cars)...

Woke up and went to my car to take off and I see this. It stood out like a sore thumb, white on black!

At first, I thought I parked too far from the curb so I go to check:

    Can't really get much closer.

After washing and claying, best I can do:

No name, no number, no information left at all.

Really sorry to see this - not much that's more annoying that people who do this sort of thing without having the decency to admit to it.

While your wash/clay did make some improvement, you can do much more with a hand application of either ScratchX 2.0 or Ultimate Compound. Just make sure to use a foam wax applicator pad and a bit of elbow grease, and you will make a noticeable improvement to the finish.

Yeah, I think you'll get a good bit of that out.

        I hate people.
I set my alarm to be more sensitive. It didn't go off when I had a hit n run happen IN MY DRIVEWAY. ***** to say this but hit n runs can happen anywhere and there usually isn't enough evidence to find the suspect.

Sorry if I made your day worse by my nugget of reality.

That is terrible. Sorry it happened. I agree you should be able to get more of it out by trying scratch-x or the ultimate compound.

I would hate the idea of having to park on the street. Another reason why living in the big city isn't for me.

I absolutely can't stand (trying to be nice) irresponsible people. Seven years in law enforcement feeds that dislike. I hope everything works out, at least as well as it can.

Yeah, the bigger the city, the more irresponsible they seem to be.

Man that's not cool at all. Hopefully who ever did this to your car will have it payed back to thiers.

Back when I was a kid, my mom's Mustang would get hit at least once a month by drunks, after a while they just stopped caring for the car.....then it stopped getting hit!

That same rule goes along with bird doo doo, too.

I hope the 'hitter' drives into the bay.

I actually got all the paint transfer off. Don't think any compound would help, what you see in the picture is actual damage to the bumper, it dents in. Must be the angle or the light that makes it seem like leftover white pant.

Might be a good idea to look for a car with black paint on the bumper corner. They might just reside in your neighborhood.

investigate. Don't forget to measure. That will be your hardest evidence.
Examine the possibilities: if he/she came around a corner, or backed out of a driveway not focused or drunk. (most likely) That can happen from across the street or next door.

It doesn't look like a side swipe. Unless the perp was in a go-kart or a lawnmower(not as likely)

remember, hit and runs aren't always car on car.

Same type of thing happened to me back in 05 when I first got my CL Type S, we lived in a culdisac and someone had backed into my car where the front fender met the drivers door..I was so pissed..and like you, no name no number..

I've used dry ice out of desparation after a google search. I am sure much more experienced members know what I am talking about. I don't recommend it. They might (or might not.)
