well i got some free time to mess around with my tools.
after reading the paint thickness around the car and take pic with all readings (just a routine) i proceed with wash /clay/ wash again. i wetsand with 2500 grit all 4 door panels , trunk , and all 4 1/4 panels.
i remove most of the orange peel i will say a good 70 % , i didn`t wanna go to agresive because is factory paint plus i don`t garage the car.
the roof had some bad oxidation from previous owner and the paint was thin so i use less agresive pad and compound. came up nice, a huge improvement.
i may upgrade the tread with some more pic , i have left to clean the windows and get some pic with all the seal/wax apply ,it got dark and couldn`t get any after the final step was done.

also what causes it? i have some orange peel on my doors...

Orange peel is the unevenness of the paint and clear layers..it will not come back, because orange peel comes from the initial painting stage, once you wet sand it, and even out the valleys of the clear layer, then it will be smooth in appearance forever.

Looks good. What are you planning to use to wax or seal it?

i use one layer klasse aio polycharge and 2 layers of klasse seal glaze polycharge.
hopefully i can get some in details pictures today , car was finish late evening so i couldn`t get any good shoot with the cam that i have.
car still has orange peel but where i pass with wetsand looks better.

No one likes orange peel.

It can't be removed compltely,although it can be improved,as you have just done.

Great job!

I have always find the paint quality of this particular generation of A6 to be subpar. The paint dulls, gets swirled up and chipped very easily from my experience. Rust always builds up around the wheel arch. As you have mentioned, it is best to keep polishing and sanding to a minimum.

May I ask where one could buy a paint thickness reader?

Only if you fertilize the paint,then it might come back as Lemon peel..

my process:
- wash nxt shampoo
- clay bar meg with onr as lube
- wash nxt shampoo
- wetsand with 2500 and 3000 over it , on all 4 upper doors , all 4 1/4 panels , trunk
- rise whole car , dry tape
- rotary 83 on polish pad on roof , due the thin paint thickness , remove 80% of oxidation
- rotary 105 on cutting pad all around , i should go with wool , i just didn`t wanna take the chance
- g110 205 all around
- 1 layer klasse AIO with polycharger
- 2 layers klasse SG with polycharger

thank`s , the car is not like i want, i may go again with 3000 and get it swirl free after that , but only when i have a garage too keep it , looks decent for now,yes is a small town
are any gtg detailers in dallas ?
anyway , i went tru pictures of the paint gauge readings and got a map for before wetsand, i may go back and read the after too to have an idea how it went.
thin panels : 1/4 panel pass rear , roof
repaint panel: trunk for sure.
everything else looks "normal"
inside door i got btween 60-83
