I would, and have thought about it, but then the van wouldn't fit in the garage so I'm gonna have to pass Sorry

I can't believe he put rims like that on a classic vehicle that otherwise looks great. Sometimes I wonder what people are thinking about when they put rims on a car like that. If he wants attention, he's going to get it.

I guess the funniest thing I have ever seen is a set of fancy rims on a Geo Metro. It made the car stick out like a sore thumb!

People always suggest I do that with my classic Cutlass too. I always hear how I should put on "some chrome rims, a fancy radio, tints, hydraulics, 'candy paint' and bolt in a big block". None of that is happening, its staying all original.

First of all, great work on the car. Secondly, I agree that wheels would be great for another car..........especially if you're Klingon - and that ain't a bad thing.

            Cool Car and interesting paint
            That trim was nasty!
Those rims do look out of place. I would go with some American Racing 15" or so Give it more muscle look, less bling.

            Also Nick:

My GMC conversion van has 15" Polished aluminum wheels that look much better than stock. I am not sure if you have seen Explorer Conversion Vans, but they use nice wheels:

This isn't my van, but it has the same rims:

Microfiber pad and some 40, then remove the excess with a microfiber towel. Used some brushes in the tight areas, but not much. When I say this kid didn't have much money, I mean he REALLY didn't have much money! So we were on our own dime for most of this job. We spent about 2 hours(2 guys x 2 hours=4 man hours), and we could have easily spent another 5-6 hours just on the interior alone. But he only had enough dough for about 1.5 hours worth of work. We took care of the rest because it needed it.

I noticed the 'cutlass' emblem on the panels when I was looking at it earlier.I thought about your's,and said "hey, wait a minute.......?"

                  Both are really nice machines.

Good to hear you're keeping it original.

As for transformations.I like them aswell. When I used to see 'Overhaulin',I thought the transformations were really clever.Okay, not the same original spec, but excellent work all the same.

                      Thanks.

I love old cars, but I really don't like when people try to modernize them. I love the fact that they have the same grandeur they sported when they were originally made. I bought my car for its late 70's style, not to make it look like the clown-mobiles kids my age drive these days.

I think they go overboard sometimes. They put rims that are simply too fancy for certain vehicles. I saw them put chrome rims on a ~1970 Camaro. In my mind a Camaro should have simple rally rims. To each his own I guess.

I used to get upset when I saw a classic or other nice vehicle "customized" to a specific taste. You just have to keep reminding yourself that it's their money and it's their vehicle. Different strokes for different folks. Personally, I can appreciate just about anything now a days, as long as I can see someone put a lot of time into it. Times are changing and with that, so are personal tastes.

Cool! You've got a good mature atitude!

Some wheels are too elaborate and fancy for my liking. I'm a bit basic when it comes to wheels, dependant on the car. I like five spoke, simple and straight forward.they have a nice offset appearence. I don't like 3 or 4 spoke.

The worst is Shelby Cobras with 3 spokes. They don't look nice at all!

Good job there Nick! Especially on the interior. Paint looks as if it was already in good shape.
I have to agree with most of the posts here that those rims are a bit much for that Cutlass. With that said I also agree that hey, it's their money and car, let them do what they want with it.
I believe that rims are an important part of a cars overall apperance. When you have 22 inch rims on a Metro or a Hyndai or a car that's usually restored to it's original appearence, I feel it's a bit of an overkill. Here in Pa you'll see these rims on cars that are worth less then one of those said rims.
These rims fit in the "Pimp My Ride" genre, not my taste but it obviously has a following.

Again Nick, good job! I wish I was a "poor college kid".
