  • Mercedes GL 550

Well, this was the second car I worked on for a guy. A beautiful car indeed.
I do not really know the color. It looks like a pure black but up close it has flakes in it. Either way, a beautiful color.

    Products Used
Flex DA with Yellow Polishing Pad
    M105
    Ultimate Compound
    M205
    NXT 2.0

And now for some Final shots... Sorry no 50/50 here.

I had alot of residue left over when I pulled it out into the sun, but these are the pics I managed to take when I could...

\/ Rest assured, I cleaned them up a bit after I looked at the picture

I spent a total of maybe 11 hours on this car... The owner said hes not paying by the hour

But overall, it was alot of fun working on his cars. I learned alot when it came to using the Flex.

Very good work. Black is probably pretty hard to work on as well.

I am really surprised that a car that is probably no more than 3 years old would require the M105.

I dont know for some reason the cars paint was really hard. I read somewhere on here that Mercedes paint had a type of ceramic in it. I dont know if that is why it was so hard or thats just how it was. However M105 acted more like M205 on the paint, finished off awesome but then 205 made it glossier. Topped with NXT 2.0, it was like a match made in heaven.

Ahh, yes, I have read on a lot of forums that European cars tend to have very good paint. I guess by good they mean hard.

A professional detailer once told me that having a BMW coming to his shop will be almost like a nightmare. You do almost 50% more work on the polishing than with Japanese cars. You have to work the polisher longer and probably with more pressure.

My 300C has diamond-hard paint too...I wonder if paint was one of the many things "borrowed" from the Mercedes line?

Lookin' good. You did wipe that residue off the paint before delivery, right?
If a tree falls in the forest and there's nobody there to record the event, how can you be certain that there was a tree or even a forest to begin with?

You're only as good as your last detail

                    Of course.

As for payment, I did it basically for free and just charged him to cover for supplies. This was more of a opportunity to advertise myself since he is a big car nut and so are his friends.
