Toyota DOES wetsand the paint on Lexus LS at the factory. IIRC they started this practice since the second generation LS400.

And it shows. Those things just look incredible...

Great work, those were some pretty nasty looking swirls you fought off.

I remember my first up-close look at BMW paint. I was appalled. It was a new (at the time) 7 Series, I parked next to it at a fancy hotel to get a good look at it since the 7 series is one of my favorite luxury sedans, and I was 100% put off by the orange peel in the paint. It's a $120,000 car, and BMW can't give it a decent finish?

Porsche paint almost looks like it was wetsanded from the factory, but even their paint pales in comparison to the paint on the new Lexus LS...glass smooth.

In this particular case, I just covered the alternator.

Did you use anything to cover up the electrical areas of the engine?
