One of my toughest challenges yet! The paint on this Lexus LS460, unlike the paint on my Lexus IS F, was pretty hard. I also have to apologize to Mike Phillips for thinking he's just "marketing" Meguiar's Products. Mike your awesome....
During the last Thursday night open garage on June 4th, i was talking to Mike about the detail I was doing this weekend. I told him i planned on using DA + M83 + yellow pad because i had so much of it left. He told me that it'll probably work, but the new stuff is sooooo much better, and that he doesn't even really use the old stuff anymore because of all the new technologies in SMAT. I figured this was just a bunch of marketing. SELL THE NEW PRODUCTS! RIGHT? (I haven't read much about the new products because i've been busy! =P ) M83 was the strongest i've had and i've used it on a few details already and it hasn't failed me....but this time it did...i needed more cutting power. Also the M83 didn't leave the finish looking very good. You could still see this tiny little swirls after wards that looked like it was made by the cutting pad?
Well....after taking a ton of time to work the paint with M83, a friend of mine had a bottle of Ultimate Compound that we just purchased and i used it....SWIRLS GONE in one try....finished it off with SWIRL X....mirror finish....EXCELLENT NEW PRODUCTS!!!!! They both are so easy to use and so easy to wipe off...yeah i know...i'm like 8 months late on these products...haha
Products Used:
-Meguiars Gold Class Wash
-Meguiars Detailing Clay + QD
-DA + M83 + Yellow Pad (no bueno)
-DA + Ultimate Compound + Swirl X + Yellow Pad =
-After getting a feel for Ultimate Compound, I ended up ditching Swirl X because the finish that Ultimate Compound left was so amazing.
-M39 and M40 for interior
-Gold Class Leather Cleaner/Conditioner
-NXT Metal Polish for exhaust tips (or fake tips)
-NXT Glass Cleaner
-NXT 2.0 Wax + Finishing Pad
On to the photos....Here are all the before shots....lots of built up wax from past wax jobs, car dirty, lots of hard water stains, interior wasn't gross, but i don't get how a car of this caliber can be left to get this dirty...who knows....

This came from just the rear bumper area between the trunk lid

Looks good right?
