  • Peugeot Boxer from Belgium !

I was asked to detail a van from 1999 that needed some TLC .
The owner said "it needs a bit of wax" !!
When the owner came round for me to take a look at it i knew that i could not do this in 2 days or so !
    This vehicle was BIG !

The condition of the paint was terrible ,heavily oxydized ,scratches everywhere, rough as sandpaper !
We agreed on 4days or perhaps 5 , because i was depending on weather conditions because it did'nt fit in my garage !

    BEFORE

    PLAN OFF ATTACK
    1. arches, tyres, trims, rubbers and bumpers with APC and various brushes
    2. washed the wheelcovers with NXTcarwash
    3. clayed the wheelcovers with Last Touch as lubricant
    4. washed the van with NXTcarwash and washmitt
    5. clayed the entire van with LT as lubricant
    6. taped all the trims, bumpers and rubbers
    7. did a testspot with M83 & a polishingpad & DA :ZERO CORRECTION !
stepped up to M84 & a cuttingpad & DA : DECENT CORRECTION BUT
    MUCH HAZING AND MARRING !
    stepped up to M105 & a cuttingpad & DA : BINGO !

SUPER RESULT ! CLEAR REFLECTIONS , AMAZING CORRECTION , NO HAZING OR MARRING !!!!

    8. did the complete van with this combo
    9. refined with M80 & a polishingpad & DA
    10. washed it again to remove all polishingdust
    11. dryed with a Watermagnet
    12. removed all water from panelgaps with a compressor
    12. applied M21
    13. followed by M16
    14. used UQD as LSP
    15. hoovered and cleaned the complete interior with APC and dressed all
    interiorplastics with Natural Shine
    16. windows in and out with GlassCleaner Concentrate & glass towel
    17. exterior trims with Trim Detailer (4 applications and still not perfect !)
    18. polished the rail for the side-slidingdoor with NXTmetalpolish
    19. wheelcovers treated with Poorboys Wheel Sealant
    20. tyres with Hot Shine Tyre Spray

    CLAY AFTER A PIECE OF 30 X 30

    50/50 AFTER 1 PASS WITH M105

    RESULT AFTER M105

    VERTIGO ANYONE ?

    RESULT AFTER M80 , NOT WAXED !

50/50 OF THE TRIMS & BUMPER

    50/50 OF THE SLIDINGDOOR RAIL

    WHEELCOVERS BEFORE

    WHEELCOVERS AFTER

    BEADING AFTER POLISHING WITHOUT WAX

FINISHED RESULT AFTER 51 HOURS OF HARD WORK SPREAD OVER 5 DAYS !

SCRATCHES ON THE SIDE REMOVED !

I would say that is more than "just a bit of wax." Great job and I love all the great pics.

WOW! What a turn around, and a great write up.
How comfortable were you when you were up on the roof?
We don't have any Boxer's here in the states, but they look very similar to the Sprinter's.

                      That's what I was thinking.

Great job on the van. 51 hours over 5 days - that's over 10 hours per day!! Wow, I wish you had a picture of the owner's reaction when they saw their van. It looks wonderful.

A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools.

A couple days later the owner's son gave me a call and said " did you respray my fathers van ? " ,he could not believe that i achieved this with compounding-polishing only !
