  • Yet Another BMW Lease Return...

Had another BMW sent to me for a detail prior to lease return. This one is a 2007 BMW 535i in pretty fair condition. Car is a deep Midnight Blue and had only light swirling. There were, however, some major spot defect removals required and its paint condition just had a dull apearance. We're still dealing with horrible weather down here in South Florida so this one won't be a full write-up but more of a "click & brag" type posting.

    Condition as delivered...

Baked in egg residue and scratching through the paint from shell fragments courtesy of a recently dumped ex-girlfriend...

Car received some touchups at a local body shop and left with this absolutely horrible overspray free of charge...

Trunk/rear bumper area served as a bike rack for a year and ripped up the paint pretty badly...

    Wash/Prep Process:

    1. Presoak with Pure Oceans Citrus Cleaner applied via foam gun
    2. Vehicle then washed via Foam Gun/1-bucket Method and Meguiar's Gold Class Shampoo and wheels prepped with DP Gel Wheel Cleaner
    3. Vehicle dried with Absorber and Armour All Drying Towels
    4. Paint/glass surface clayed using Meguiar's Smooth Surface Clay Kit
    5. Citrus Cleaner wash/rinse to remove any clay contaminants
    6. Wheels/Wheel wells decontaminated and washed
    7. Vehicle dried in same manner as before
    8. Vehicle taped and prepped for polishing

    Polish Process:

    1. Meguiar's M105/LC CCS Orange pad spot applied to remove defects via Flex Dual-Action Polisher on speed setting 6 followed by IPA wipedown.
    2. Meguiar's M205/LC CCS Orange pad applied via Flex Dual-Action Polisher on speed setting 6 initially and 4 for final sweep over panel to burnish/jewel to a high gloss with final wipe via clean microfiber only.

    Final Finishing Process:

    1. Washed vehicle using Foam Gun/1-bucket method with Meguiar's Gold Class Shampoo
    2. Dried with Armour All Drying towels and Cobra Guzzler
    3. Vehicle paint surface final inspection completed prior to LSP application
    4. Applied coat of Meguiar's Gold Class Paste Wax by hand (microfiber applicator) and removed via Meguiar's Supreme Shine microfibers
    5. Second coat of Meguiar's GC Paste Wax applied in same manner as above approximately two hours later

Sun was setting on this job as I was wrapping up. Customer was pulling in just as I was grabbing the camera so had to stand there and do the usual post-detail rundown and walk-around. Here's some of the quick afters of the results and gorgeous reflections...

And of course a closeup reflection shot of the detail rig in the paint...

    As always...thanks for looking guys!

The car looks awesome! Sweet reflection shots, too. No interior pics? Tire shine?
