  • 2004 Honda 1000RR - Bug Etching

Hey there - This bike belongs to a good friend of mine. It's not his fault this bike was in this shape, he purchased it like this.

We can start with what I was facing

These pictures were taken after the bike was washed and clayed

    Here was my process
    -Wash
    -Clay
-105 on a foam polishing pad with G110 on a speed of 5, took a few passes on the areas where the etching seemed to be worse. Used good ol' elbow grease on the places that the g110 wouldn't fit. The G110 with 105 removed the defect so the rotary was left in the garage for this one.
-205 on a foam polishing pad with the G110 on a speed of 5. Knocked out any hazing or swirls put in but the 105. To be completely honest, 105 finishes out amazing so this step was easy and didn't require much work.
-205 on a foam finishing pad, just for that extra shine Read somewhere about Mike Phillips using 205 on a finishing pad with some different speeds, and of course it worked perfect!
-2 Coats of NXT 2.0 for protection

This is what I was left with

Now some finished pictures. I actually just finished painting the lower fairings and the windscreen black for this bike. They were gray before. Of course I wetsanded and buffed everything out after I painted it but I didn't take any pictures. Sorry

Next time I'll document the whole painting, sanding, and buffing process I do..

This bike is pretty fast, I told him the bug etching was slowing it down due to wind resitance. So he had me do this the next day...
    Thanks for looking!!!
