The guy in second doesn't seem as happy as you!
That's Justin Combs, owner of ImportXpressions.net--he's a pretty cool guy, and his 2004 350Z is absolutely incredible--way more mods than mine, killer paint job, genuine Veilside 1 body kit, lambo doors, engine work. I was sure he was going to come in first place (especially after he did the nitrous purge for the judges--which looks a lot cooler in real-life than in games like Need for Speed Underground 2). His car certainly got more attention from the crowd than mine, which is understandable:

I was stunned when he told me that he lost one show to a drift car that had a banged-up fender. I enter shows mostly for the fun of it, and I would have been just as happy to have won third or second place. I don't expect my car to be a contender against one with top-of-the-line JDM parts and high-dollar, exotic mods and paint. The common thread among the compliments my Z always gets at shows, is how clean or simple it is. Maybe that's what the judges saw (first show I've been to where two judges go over the car). I thought it might have been the audio system I had installed, which seemed to impress them more than anything else (at least that was my impression). I'll probably never know what it was--but I'd be less than honest if I said I wasn't happy with the outcome. In spite of what some folks might think, winning any award--especially first place--is a very humbling experience. At any rate, Justin was happy that he won a trophy, and I was also happy for him as well.

              Re: Won My First Show!

Thanks, everyone! There are three more local shows coming up--the first at the end of May. My Stop-Tech Big Brake Kit should be coming this week. Should provide a substantial improvement in braking performance, while looking much better than the stock Nissan brakes and rotors...
