You worry too much. Your car looks fantastic! As far as the name of the car goes, Luthien, I couldn't figure that one out. But I did figure out the significance of the license plate. Tinúviel is an Elvish name which means "Daughter of Twilight" signifying nightingale, because your car is black. Pretty neat! So, where's my 500 points? LOL! Nice job on the car!

Your car looks great. The next time you machine polish your Luthien it will come out even better. I've used my G110 3 times on my Camry and each time I get a little better results.

Does it seem like the #80 type products work better on your paint than the #205?

Does it seem like the #80 type products work better on your paint than the #205?

I do not have sufficient experience with the products to have an opinion on this question. All I know is that I was unable to finish down nicely with the Flex.

I know you tried finishing down with a lot of SMAT products and others such as M09 and M80.

Have you tried finishing down with something like ColorX or M06 Cleaner Wax?

If your paint is picky enough then i guess its possible to resort to an AIO to remove the remaining swirls or haze like you experienced.

Nice detail job, Al!

While it takes time to become a paint polishing craftsman, persnicketiness is a trait. You, sir, did a very nice job on that car. Judging by the photos, the car looks new. Although you say you were not happy with the results of your paint polishing session, at least you were careful and stopped when you hit the point of diminishing returns.

If at all possible, it's always wise to step away from a difficult paint polishing session.
I can recall a couple of times when I just stopped polishing to take a break, calm down, and rethink my polishing process.

I've even went farther than you did- I have had occasions when I've said to Jason, "Okay, that's it. I need you to do this section... I'm chasing my tail here." Jason knocks it out, I calm down, and am able to confidently continue polishing. Sometimes that feeling of tunnel vision kicks in (stress and concentration= boxed in visual perception!), and it has to go away before I continue.

Again, don't beat yourself up too much. Fine scratching we can live with!
The car was not damaged, nor was the paint taken to the ragged limit.

Nice write-up, too. Looks like it was a good decision to have you proofread the "paper".

Seriously, Kevin, thank you for your kind comments about the detail. You are absolutely right. I had reached a point of physical exhaustion and emotional frustration. It was necessary, for the sake of my sanity and well-being, to stop polishing and bring the detail to conclusion. I very much appreciate your patient instruction and timely counsel that Friday. Thank you!
