Hello to all once again!
This weekend I tackled my first full-car paint correction task. The subject was the daily driven 01 PT Cruiser of my dad's. 101K on the clock and the paint has seen its share of Minnesota winters. Plenty of rock chips as well. Swirls? Yeah, we got those too. Deep scratches? You bet!
Process:
Washed at the local coin-op
Clayed
Tried M205 first but didn't cut it so...
Tried M105...
Then back over it with M205
Cleaner wax with the DA
Topped with NXT 2.0 applied by hand
All of this was done with the G110 on the SoftBuff 2.0 yellow pads and cleaner wax applied with the SoftBuff 2.0 black finishing pad. Speed 4-5 for working in the polish and down to about 2 for applying the wax.
Cold morning to start claying:

After just the hood... yummy! I don't have pics of under the rear bumper; NASTY!

Fender before:

Hatch before:

Swirl city:

And I give you... about an 85% better looking PT Cruiser:

Fender after:

The face behind the DA (I couldn't find any swabs to really get the stuff out of the letter haha):

Couple shots of the hood:

And a few of the hatch:

Here's my Si... that's getting the DA treatment next.

Again I was having trouble with dusting on the M105. I think it may just be too cold yet. It was about the same temperature outside when I tried it on my black Civic. It cuts OK I guess but it just dusts like mad even when I clean the pad every time I take the machine off the car to get more juice. I've also noticed these 7" pads don't like to stay rotating when you're doing concave (I think) curves. Is that user error or just the nature of a DA?
I wasn't happy with the results to be honest. I thought I could have done a lot better. My dad loves it though so I guess that's what counts. I'll just have to keep practicing and try getting away from something black and curvy for my next attempt
Thanks for looking and please give me some pointers if you see something completely out of whack. I'm here to learn!
