  • Beautiful Black G35

My son and I are great friends with Rasky. He has been our inspiration. Last year, Chad had a detailing meet at his home for 8th Generation Civics. It was there that I got to try out a Flex for the first time.

I have been using a Griot's DA. I have a variety of pads, Meguiar's, Lake Country and Griot's. I did a full detail last yeat on the G35 and while it looked good, it was not great. I tried Meguiar's 80, 82 and 83.

So, I bought a Flex. This year however, I saw the Meguiar's came out with a new, improved 105 for DA's. They also came out with the 205. Perhaps my problem had been that I had not used an aggressive enough polish to dial out the scratches and swirls.

The combination of the Flex with the new 105/205 completely and totally transformed my car. It is absolutely stunningly shiny and beautiful. It has never looked this good since I bought it new in late 2002.

I have to say that the 105/205 are miracle working polishes. So easy to work with and the results speak for themselves. The jeweling quality of the 205 in particular is just plain awesome.

After polishing, we used Meguiar's #7, JetSeal and Meguiar's Gold Class Carnauba wax. Here is the finished product:

The one thing about the 105/205 was the pad choice. When we tried the 105, we first tried a CCS Lake Country Orange polishing pad. Looked awful. Then we tried a normal Lake Country Orange polishing pad. A little better, but a lot of polisher swirls.

I then used a Meguiar's Soft Buff Yellow polishing pad. Did the trick. Dialed out all the polisher swirls. Then the same thing happened with the 205. I used a Meguiar's tan finishing pad. Looked ok, but not that great. Then, I used a Lake Country Orange polishing pad and the results were simply amazing.

I had read somewhere here that 105/205 may be sensitive to the pads being used. I don't know if that is true or not, but I found the right combination.

Looks good. How were the results when you used the DA? I used g110 on my altima and was only able to remove a little bit of the swirls.

I think a lot had to do with the polish I was using. The new 105 is obviously more abrasive and combined with the Flex, it seems to have the cutting power to remove the things I was unable to with the Griot's DA.

The Griot's Random orbital is junk IMO. I didn't like using it. How did you like the Flex?

                    Car looks amazing!
                    Sweet smoked lights too!

^ The Flex is simply amazing. A lot easier to use than the Griot's IMO. The Griot's is fine for waxing and minor polishing, but for the heavy duty stuff, the Flex rules. I like it because it is kind of between a DA and a rotary. It has the power to get down and dirty if you need to.

only thing I have against the flex is the price
