I just bought this new "Brilliant Black" 2008 Mazda MX-5 (Miata to me). It was a leftover 2008 model and they were heavily discounting them (dealer gave me $6,500 off MSRP).
Anyway, as it had been sitting on the dealer lot for over a year, it came complete with scratched up paint and a year's worth of paint contaminants
It also had the dealership's sticker on it. Which, while they were a pretty good dealership to work with, I hate stickers on my car and it was the first thing to go. The fortunate part of the car being a year old - the sticker came off easily.
Sticker (had forgotten to take a picture until after I removed the "S"):

Sticker "residual" - hard to see, but you can barely make it out:

Here it is prior to it's first wash, doesn't look too bad:

Here is a before picture of the wheel (looks more gray than silver):

And after the wash (using Gold Class car wash), the real condition is revealed:

And more swirls on the hood:

Laid out some tape and began the test - here is the before section:

This is after some M80 with a G100 - Not bad, but looks like I need to step it up a little:

This is the M83 section (also a G100):

Clear coat appears to be pretty hard, and while M83 seems to get the majority of it, it's not quite perfect. This may be the excuse I'm looking for to go buy some M105
I continued on with the M83 for now, but may have to re-visit it in a few months. After polishing, I finished it off with NXT Tech Wax.
And the results:

Here's the hood:

And the top:

Front:

The chrome gas cap looked like a mirror:

Here are a few reflection shots as the sun was going down:

And the wheel is silver again:

The interior was already pretty clean, I just gave it a good vacuuming and some Meg's Quick Interior Detailer:

Here's the final picture, next to my wife's 07 Mazda 3 (which is next on the list for the G100):

Thanks for looking!
