  • Roush Wheel Detail

Extreme Makeover? Not for me to decide I suppose, so have at it.

What to do on a nice, northern California day? Unbury a rare, expensive, discontinued wheel that has been sitting outside in the elements for roughly 2 years uncovered and make it look new of course!!

    Process
    • Washed with Meguiar's Hot Rims All Wheel Cleaner and Eagle One Nano Wash and Wax, dual purpose wash mitt (scrubber on one side) and a small, stiff nylon brush.
    • Cleaned with Meguiar's SwirlX
    • Polished with Meguiar's Swirl Free Polish
    • Lip polished with Meguiar's NXT All Metal Polysh
    • Small areas/cracks cleaned out with Q-Tips
    • Entire wheel surface, front and back, sealed with Obsessive Detail Wheel Seal (love this stuff).

The paint on this wheel looks incredibly wet, especially for being argent (silver). The machined lip is also looking great, nice and shiny. I can't stop staring at it now; I'd frame it if I could!

    Getting better, right?

Will get some better afters in the sun tomorrow. It was getting dark by the time I finished. I think I spent about 1.5-2 hours or so working on this one wheel.

why did it sit outside for so long? Because of the curb rash? Looks tons better.

Noice! Why do you only have 1?

I once put swirls in my paint just to see what it looked like.

            I don't always detail cars, but when I do, I prefer Meguiar's.
            Remove swirls my friends.

Looks great. Cleaned up that well for being in the elements for two years, wow. Great work.

Great job Tyler. I am surprised it was not more pitted than what it was.

                        Re: Roush Wheel Detail

Thanks all! It was a bit of a chore, but worth it in my eyes!

It has sat outside because I have no where else to put it. Have this one 18x9 because when I sold my original set, this one being part of it, the buyer for it backed out. I have two, almost new, 18x10's in the house in the original boxes (the GF doesn't like it though, lol). I am still on the look out for a near new set of 18x9's too. The curb rash is from whoever had the car before me. Actually, the only pitting that is on the wheel is from brake dust I think. On one small spot on one spoke.

                        Thanks again all!
