  • Washed my Truck today

    Hello everyone,

today i did a simple yet lengthy detail on my truck. the goal here was to get all the salt off and there was alot, the last time i washed it was about 3 weeks ago, So lets get started then:

    Products Used:

    Meguiars NXT Generation Car Wash
    Meguiars NXT Generation Tire Cleaner
    Meguiars All Purpose Cleaner
Meguiars Hot Shine Tire Foam ( First use)
    Meguiars Quik Wheel Detailer
Meguiars Hot Rims Aluminum Wheel Cleaner
    Meguiars Ultra Plush Chenille Pad
    3 Water Magnets
    Meguiars Versa Angle Wheel Brush
    Meguiars Versa Angle Tire Brush

    Before: Very Salty

    During Wash:

NXT Tire Cleaner foams nicely and has good hang time:

Still hanging after letting it sit in for a minute before agitation:

Everyting is washed and dried and now its time to dress the tires:

I have come to like Hot Shine Tire Foam, only 2.99 at Target

After it soaks in the tire for 5 minutes i wiped the tire with a cotton towel.

    All Finished:

i hate it when water drips out of the mirror

    Shot of the bedside:

    Summary:

I am very pleased with the results, i got done in 1 hour and 30 minutes so not too bad at all, it would have taken longer if i used Hot Shine Tire Gel and not Hot Shine Tire Foam. Before i started it took me a little while to figure out if i should use GC or NXT to wash the truck with, in the end i chose NXT and used 6 oz of it for a little extra cleaning power. hopefully Tuesday after school i can do the interior as i was pressed for time today.

    Thanks for looking

if the temp is 40 degress or higher i would try and wash it in your garage or outside in your driveway, and wear a lot of warm clothing.

Just curious, for you guys in the colder climates, have you tried ONR? It's a great solution for washing your car in the cold weather.

Optimum No Rinse. You essentially fill a bucket with a couple gallons of water, toss in a couple ounces of ONR and you can wash your car inside with little water. Many people who live in water restricted areas use it as their normal wash. There are some other threads on it, search for ONR and they should pop-up.

                I have never tried it.
I do not think I will either.
If you car is salty/dirty couldn't you instill scratches/swirls?

If your truck is covered in salt, you could take it to a spray & wash to get most of the big pieces off and then follow up with ONR. There are quite a few forum members that use this product as their main wash product. The goal of the product is to be able to wash your car without A) using lots of water and B) going outside.

Truck looks good. It looks like I am going to get the onr. They are cracking down pretty hard on water restrictions here. We are in a severe drought. As always.
