  • Ext. Detail: 2008 Chevy Colorado

I received a call last week to take care of this truck's paint. The owner is in Iraq and is coming home after a 8 month tour. His dad is the one that contacted me to freshen up the paint. He is a Vietnam Vet and is so excited to get his son home. You should see how giddy his mom is as well!

The truck is in pretty nice shape. It only has 4400 miles on it but, it's black. There are some light swirls and some nice "car cover" induced marring to take care of. This was the perfect candidate for some 105/205 combo action. The interior literally took me 20 minutes to totally clean. Easiest I've done in years.

    Ok. Here's the process.......

    Wash Cycle:
(Meguiar's Shampoo Plus with 1/2 cup ZEP degreaser)
I just wanted a clean surface to start with. I did clay the hood and roof but there was not much to show. I'm really liking Shampoo Plus. Very lubricated and smells nice too.

    Wheels, Tires, and Wells:
    (Meguiar's Wheel Brightener & ZEP's Industrial Purple 4:1)
The tires had a nice coating of silicone dressing that took some work to remove. Once again, new has it's advantages: the wells were immaculate. After cleaning, the tires and wells both received a coating of All Season Dressing. This product is becoming one of my favorite tire dressings.

    Paint Compounding:
    (Meguiar's New #105 via G110 and Meguiar's 2.0 Polishing Pad)
The hood, roof, and some random spots were all that required light compounding. I could quickly tell that the improvements to 105 were real. I had a lot more work time with less dusting. Thanks! I must tell you though, a quick detailer is a much to prime the pads with. I use Last Touch for example. On to polishing......

    Paint Polishing:
    (Meguiar's #205 via G110 and Meguiar's 2.0 Polishing Pad)
I primed my new pad and put 3 dime sized dots onto it. I smeared it over a 2X2 area and worked it in on speed 5 for about 3-4 minutes. Remember, this is black paint in full, 55* sun. It easily wiped off and left a deep, wet shine while removing any 105 marring. #80 is the only thing I can compare #205 too. I've used 3M's UF but it just left to much oil behind. I look forward to using this polish for a long time.

    Paint Protection:
    (Meguiar's NXT 2.0 via G110 and Meguiar's 2.0 Finishing Pad)
I applied NXT at speed 3 and let dry for about 30 minutes while I did the interior. I then came back and did a final wipedown with the new Ultimate Quik Wax. Once again, totally impressed with this new product.

    Befores......

I got these in the mail about 3 days ago. No return address. Thanks to whoever sent them!

Here are a few after just using 105.

anybody notice the label says 6FL OZ. It only sells 32 or a gallon so far. Impressive mystery labeling I see.

And on the 205 label, "RESULTS" is misspelled.
