As I am new to being "car crazy" since the spring. I have not been much of a poster, but I have certainly been reading all of your advice here.
I decided to go to a car show this weekend, so I hit my car with 83/82/81/nxt on a few spots that needed it and NXT booster waxed the rest of the car.
The first car that caught my eye at the show was this C5 Corvette retro 1953 conversion.
I went on and on to the guy about what a great car he had and he turned to me and said--"You've got the T Bird over there"--Yeah--"You really polish your paint a lot" (He had a few minor swirls, but I went to the show with no swirls at all). Thanks for the compliment.
Several other people at the show came up to me to ask about the polish/wax.
One guy complained he had done 12 coats of hand polish and then waxed, but still had swirls. I started to tell him about the PC and #83, but he cut me off and said that any machine polishing would create more problems than it would resolve. Oh well, he'll always have swirls.
Here"s a couple of pictures of me and a 1940 Ford with brand new single stage paint.
He also had minor swirls and I had none (the problem is that pictures are never as critical as your one eye in person moving across the surface in changing light conditions).
Bottom line: I have a new car and the expectation is that it should look perfect. Trophys are given to people with old cars that look like new. And even when trophys are given to new cars, it is usually the more popular Vettes and Mustangs.
I believe that the trophy I won was because the paint condition of my car was superior to most of the other entries at the show.
Thanks to all at Meguairs Online,
Wes
