  • Yum. #16 as your lsp!

I went nuts on mine again, I think I finally have the paint as swirl and scratch free as it will get without wetsanding it out. Meguiars #83 DACP with a polishing pad, #80 Speed Glaze with a polishing pad, Poorboy's PwC with a polishing pad and #16 Pro Paste x 2.

Like usual, some pics are a touch dark since it was about 30 minutes to sundown when I finished. I took a few pics yesterday when I had more light. Those shots should be obvious.

Notice my new chrome exhaust tips in this pic.

Probably going to the last shots of my car for a while. I may add a layer of Souveran about once a month between now and February but unless I develop any problems like scuffing, paint transfers, etc, I am leaving my car alone other than weekly washing and QDing.

Wow!!! Now that's what I call deep.. The paint just looks so rich and the depth is just awesome.. Too much glare in my eyes!!! hahaha! Good work Scottwax.. So, do you think this is better than NXT Tech Wax? I've been reading a lot of raves about #16...

Your car is stunning as usual, there is so much depth and clarity in that finish.

Bri-it depends on the color. I like #16 on black because it looks so rich and wet. I prefer NXT on colors like a deep blue because of the hard candy look NXT has. #16 over NXT is also very nice, you get the look of NXT with a coating of pure wet over top.

BTW, here are a couple shots when I was doing the polishing steps. I started off using DACP and while it cleaned up the remaining few areas of cobwebbing and most of the light scratches, it did leave a light haze, most visible in tree right above my head as it is reflected in my paint.

And this is after following with #80 Speed glaze:

I'm not sure how well the difference translates onto film but in person, after using #80, all the minor DACP hazing was completely gone and the paint looked noticably wetter and more clear.

So, is #16 better than #26 in terms of richness, depth, and gloss of the paint? Because I've been reading a lot about topping NXT with either #16 or #26.. TIA!

Scott... what can I say... you are a true detailing guru...

Nice work. It's incredible how a product created around 1951 is still hanging in there 53 years later!

I think #26 is a bit richer looking but not as wet as #16. Some prefer #26 on dark paint and #16 on light paint. Your results may vary depending on what looks best to you. I do feel that #16 is the most durable carnauba based product Meguiars has.

Mike-after seeing your work in person, I take that as a real compliment!

You aren't kidding about #16. Meguiars got it right way back in 1951!

                  Incredible Job Scott!

I'm always impressed with your work and write ups!

                  That's one beautiful black car!

I've never tried 16 but I think I will try it!
