My wife is to thank for this client. It's her new hair stylist.
My lovely wife is always promoting my business, since, well, it's our major source of income! The young lady had just purchased it about a month prior to this detail. The dealership that sold it to her has an excellent detail section. They actually use the two-bucket method and MF towels! The finish was not bad at all. There were a few swirls here and there but hey, it's black and in the mountains........can't complain. We decide on a light polishing and a sealant since it sits outdoors a lot.
Ok.......here's the process:
Wheels, Tires, and Wells:
ZEP Industrial Purple was used at 4:1 on the tires and wells. Meguiar's Wheel Brightener was used at 8:1 (lighter than normal) on the wheels. This ratio works fine with less severe coatings of brake dust. All of this was done with the aid of my pressure washer. You'll see later why I said this.
Wells were treated to Hyper Dressing at 4:1.
Tires geled with Pinnacle's Black Onyx Tire Gel.
Wheels were protected with Optimum's Opti-Seal.
Wash Cycle:
After the wheels, tires, and wells were done, the car was pressure washed off. Then came out Optimum's No-Rinse. Yes I pre-rinsed the vehicle. I then used ONR as directed and as 90% of it's users do. Their are two benefits here. The pre-rinse let me do the wheels, tires, and wells as normal and easier with the aid of my pressure washer. It also let me get any standing dirt off of the paint before washing with ONR. Guess how much water I used? 10 gallons including my 2 gallons in my wash bucket. Now if I had washed conventionally, having to remove the suds of a car wash, I would have used close to 20 gallons. So I cut my water usage in half, dried while I washed (no spots on black in the sun) and was able to do the jambs during the process. The best of both world in my opinion.
Paint Polishing:
(Meguiar's #80 via G110 & W-8006 Meguiar's Polishing Pad)
Since there minimal swirls, I went for intense gloss over correction. 80 is always fun to use and I forgot how nice Meg's yellow foam is! 80 also did a good job of cleaning up deep bug splats as well.
Paint Protection:
(Meguiar's #21 2.0 via G110 & LC Red LSP Pad)
I had a 4oz. sample sent to me from a fellow detailer a while back. Since I'll be maintaining this car, I wanted to see how it's durability was compared to what I seen with NXT 2.0. #21 went on just as easy.......a little goes a long way. I let it sit for about 30 minutes while I addressed the interior. Deep and wet....what I expected. We will see about the long term protection though.
Interior:
Wow. A clean interior to start with. I swear this never happens to me! LOL!
All surfaces were wiped down with Meg's APC at 10:1. Leather was treat with Pinnacle's Leather Conditioner X2. Glass was cleaned with Stoner's Invisible Glass liquid form. The LCD screen and instrument cluster was treated to Meg's Last Touch. All carpet was vacuumed and then sprayed with ZEPs Odor Eliminator.
No befores........just afters........
