  • Detailed: Toyota Vigo - Metallic Silver

One of the friends parents sent over his car to be properly cleaned. So took me around 1.5 days to do all the stuff as I'm still not feeling well. Once I'm done with this car, I'm gonna take a short break....

Anyhow, vet through and I have a big suprise for you guys!
The car is still new. If not mistaken its 2005 model. Apologize for the very small amout of picts.

    So, on with the show..

    Day 1:

Car arrived around 9am. Started work around 10am.

Here are some shots on arrival.

The usual road grime . Wheels not too dirty.

Scratch at the rear truck cover.

    Scratches at the door handles

No significant scratches or etching on the roof...

    Scratch on the C pillar

Engine was really dusty and dirty... Needs a good cleanup.

The Interior was also not to bad.

    Here are some picts.

    Dusty interior

    Minor stains in the seats

Headrest with hair and a Bug ..... not from my house, definately. Set it free at a nearby forest.

Interior door panel was dusty and icky...

    Dust galore...

I started to clean the interior first as the body, wheels and engine was still too hot for cleaning.

    Summary Interior Cleanup
    • Took out all fabric and plastic mat
    • Washed them with a PW, scrubed with APC and extracted out
    • Plastic Mat dressed with HyperDressing
    • Loose dust was blasted with compressed air
    • Interior fully vacuumed with various brushes.
    • Vinyl was wipedown with APC
    • Vents clean with APC, MFs and Qtips.
    • Fabric seats - scrubbed with APC and extracted out.
    • All Vinyls dressed with M40
    • Once the seats were dry - sprayed some M23 on them.
    • Interior & Exterior Windows cleaned with Detailer Glass Cleaner Concentrate.
Once the interior was done, I moved on with the washing.

    Summary of the exterior cleanup
    • Wheels & tires cleaned with APC+, SuperDegreaser and Wheel Brightener (10:1) all via various brushes
    • UnderCarriage - APC+ and scrubed with various brushes.
    • Power Washed to kickoff loose dirt on body
    • Prewash - Foamed with HyperWash
    • Door jambs, nooks and etc - clean with APC+ along with various brushes.
    • Rinse off with PowerWash
    • Washed with 2BM (with GritGuard) with some HyperWash
    • Dried with 2 WaterMagnets
    • Bed liner, Wheel wells and undercarriage dressed with HyperDressing
    • Tires on All Season Dressing
    • Body, Windows, Front & Rear screens, wheels - Clayed with Meguiars Blue Clay+Last Touch as lube
    Finished around 10pm ish...

When I was done with the claying, found these things all over the car. Quite frustrated as its everywhere...
(compiled at various time during the day)

Took me few hours to clean all these residue off. QD, GooGone , brush and Qtips were used to tackle them.

Even on my laziest days, I'll never be this sloppy...

Here are some picts after the washing

    Not too bad..

    Wash induced swirls....(maybe)

Quite hard to spot the defects in a daylight. Best seen during night time.

    End of DAY 1.

    DAY 2

    Started at 8am.

Continue to go on with Paint Correction

(sorry only took a few shots and the reflections on halogen during daytime - not really ideal) so I only took picture on LED.

    Reflections after paint correction

Taken at day time but seems dark in the picture....hmm...

The paint was easy to work with so help alot.

    Summary of Paint Correction
    • M83 & M80 on defect heavy - 1-2 passes of M83 clean it up
    • M80 x 2-3 passes on light defect areas.
    • All on Rotary
    • Pads - Megs Yellow 6.5 Pads & LC Orange 3.5" for tight areas.
    • Rear truck cover unpolished - Paint was too thin.
    • M21 2.0 on all paint surface, headlights, rear light cluster, side mirrors and decals on the sides via DA (2 coats)
    • Front, side and rear windscreen sealed with RainX (2 coats)
    So finished all around 3pm.

Here are some picts of the afters.

    The exterior

No sun. It was cloudy and rained when I finished my work. (again very sorry for the limited no of pictures)

The owner was overjoyed to see the car in a very clean condition. He kept on saying "very good...very good..."

    Thanks for viewing.

    Comments and suggestions are welcomed.

    Tim

ps: For the suprise - heres what i found under the engine bay

The truck looks great! I'm not sure if I could drive a truck with a Panda sticker on the fuel door though...

The only reason some people get lost in thought... is because it is unfamiliar territory for them.

          Gross!

Looks like a dead rat or something?

Also looks like you must have had to scrape it off the floor with something? Didn't the owner ever notice the "New Car Smell" was gone?

Very nice job! That rodent reminds me of the time I was detailing a Lexus ES 330 and I popped the hood to detail the engine bay and a live rat scurried out. I about fell out, scared me half to death. Haha.

                      Good job!

Thanks Mike. Appreciate the comments. I also taught the owner on how to take care of the car, hope he listens.

For the carcass, when I go over the car with the owner, both of us didnt really notice that thing. I just thought it was a bunch of small tree branches clumped together. But when I was cleaning the wheel wells, there was this funky scent and pop the hood, bam! saw the carcass...
