    Overview

The car is owned by my friend's parents. They didnt really took care of it (cosmetic wise) so I voluntered to help them to clean it up (Christmas gift )

The car is White (clearcoat). Showed signs of repaint on front hood, front fender and driver's door. But strangely, film build was consistent throught the car even on the painted panels. maybe they replaced the affected panels and painted it back.
Paint was quite oxidized. Tons of mud stucked under the wheel wells.

Interior was quite dirty. I found few baby cockroaches inside also Seats were stained badly and smells nasty.

Judging from the owner's expectation and the time given to me (very short considering the condition of the car), a simple cleanup is the way to go.

Here are some pictures of the before:

    Exterior

Front Passanger Door had a brighter white then the passager's door.

    Stains on hood

    Dirt and grime

Yellow tint on the car - oxidization

Owner tried doing some paint touchup.

Sorry not focused but bumper had yellow tint on it

    Looks like wax residue..

Diesel powered - 2.0 dont see these often around here

Reflections After - way better than before
    Black spots are stone chips

    Front Hood

By the way, engine- didnt touch. Owner told me not to mess with it. The metal rims were also just cleaned up with APC.

Delivered back to the owner and they were very pleased. Nice to see them smilling. Kept touching the hood and driver's door with the back of the palm saying it was smooth as glass

    Thanks for viewing

How much time did you spend to finish the gift?

Great reflection on the white paint.

              Tim,
You did a huge improvement there. The reflections are amazing considering it is a white car. The interior is much improved. Good work. Way to go.

                  Tim,
I am new to the Detailing scene. I have noticed in several of your post that cleaning cloth seats you use APC and extract it out. I have two questions. The first is that you are using APC and not APC+, is this correct? The second question is how are you extracting it out of the cloth? Are you using a machine, like a wet vac or are you just rolling a towel over the cloth to extract out the solution? I have a Hoover home steam cleaner and have used it before,is this a good idea or not? As I said in the beginning, I have looked at a lot of your work, and it is awsome. I hope to learn a lot from the forums. Any help would be appreciated.

                  Thanks,
                  Jeff

                    Hi Jeff,

I'm not a pro and only an enthusiast so I'll do my best to explain.

Q1. Yes I use APC to clean the fabric seats. Sometimes if the customer dont like the scent of APC then I'll go for APC+. APC has more foam but I still use it on my machine.

Q2. Basically I scrub the seats (using foam head sprayer and soft fabric brush) then followed by an extractor to pull the dirt out. For those tight spots where the extractor cant go in, I'll end up using a damp towel to dab the residue off. Not sure on the steamer as personally I dont really steam seats which have thick fabrics. If memory serves me right, AeroCleanse uses a steam cleaner and loved it. Try do a search.

                    Hope this helps.

Good job in capturing the before and after visual difference with white paint. This is actually pretty hard to do.

This picture just goes to show that paint does in fact get dirty and/or stained over time when a car is a daily driver. This is the topic of this thread,
