This stuff is fantastic! Polished the inside + outside rims and took a photo. Then I noticed the nice reflection on the body panel (that has NXT Tech wax).
RamAirV1: the wheels came with a "decent" polish and I've worked on them for almost a year for this level of shine. They are not clear coated, so routine maintenance is a must (especially the inner rim).
The NXT is such a great "final" polish to use. Easy to apply and remove and leaves literally no fine scratches like the more abrasive polishes tend to do.
It will be interesting to see how long the Metal Polysh lasts. I assume that it doesn't need to be used with a topper.
That's a lot of work to keep the wheels looking like that unless they're on a garage queen. If it was a daily driver I would probably have them clear coated. Of course the polish would have to be removed before they were clearcoated.
RamAir: I agree 100% on their use. I don't use the Mach 1 for a daily driver .... I'd be spending all available hours maintaining the wheels.
I have driven the car about 4,000 miles on the wheels this year and typically do a complete off-car maintenance program once a month.
I don't know how the NXT polish will hold up for durability... not too many products are durable for polished aluminum (except Zoop Seal which I am going to apply this winter).
Clear coating is almost impossible on polished metal ... one little chip or break in the coating and it starts peeling.

A ha! I have a polished lip on my wheels and that's what it looks like is happening! Like some sort of plastic coating is peeling off! The manuf described them as "clearcoated silver with polished lip" so I used the Mother's Mag polish on it once but it didn't turn black. Then I figured it was clearcoated so I started treating the lip like the rest of the wheel.
Been peeling for a year or two now and I never knew what was happening. The exposed metal doesn't look all that bad (certainly no where near as good as your wheels), but I expected it to look nasty really quickly. I think all 4 wheels have varying levels of cracking going on.. think I should just peel all the clearcoat off and go to town with the metal polish?

Perry: I have a similar situation with the wheels on a 96 Pathfinder. Seems like wheel weights, etc have caused the clear coat to peel and crack. Plus, there are a couple of spots of aluminum corrosion pitting. I can treat them with NXT to stall further problems, but it looks like sooner or later I will be faced with sending them out for resurfacing. There is a shop here in KC that strips the clear coat, then uses a milling maching to remove a small layer of aluminum. Don't know what they charge per wheel though.
