  • Modded Black A4 set for snow

    Process
Wash wheels with APC w/brightner mixed 4:1, foam finger pads, schmitt mitt, and boars hair brush
Tires cleaned with APC 4:1 cut 4:1
Car soaked with foam gun and Meg's Gold Class
Washed with Chenille MF mit, Meg's Gold Class, and 2 bucket method
Clayed with Meguiars Mirror Glaze Clay (mild version, aka blue clay)
Dried with Absorber and MF towels
Blown dry (to get water out of mirrors, license plate frames, side markers) with Air Gun
Ado had mentioned that there was some hazing on his hood so I taped off
the freshly painted fenders and just did a light correction on the hood
    Process:
Finesse-It 2 Finishing Polish, White CCS Pad, 1200 RPM
3M Swirl Mark Remover PN# 39009, Grey CCS pad, 1500 RPM
    Wipe with MF
Then we noticed that the freshly painted fender had some halographing in the paint (this happens when they remove the finishing/final polish before it is completely broken down and is fairly difficult to see unless you're in just the right light) These were taking care of with a quick pass with the 3M 39009, grey pad, and 1200 RPM
Afterwards, I did a final wipe down with Meg's Quick Detailer to make sure all waterspots and what not were gone
Meguiars Professional #20 (polymer sealant) applied via PC7424, grey CCS pad, and 1000 OPM
I left the 20 on to haze for about a half hour to 45 minutes to make it a little easier to remove. In the mean time I used Newspaper and Stoner Invisible Glass on the Windows. I used Meguiars Trim Detailer on all of the front grilles and wheel liners. I polished the exhaust tips with a little bit of soft scotch-brite, then 1500 grit wet-sand, then Powerball with Mothers Power Metal Polish. Tires and rims were dried, wheels were ID'd, tires were dressed with Meguiars Endurance Tire shine then wiped down. After all of this the sealant was removed. Here's the after pics

There's still some things we need to do this winter to make the paint perfect. The hood is beyond repair and needs to be resprayed, and there are a few other knicks on a few other panels... Nothing that wouldn't be overlooked by anyone other than us detailers... heh heh

          Car looks great!

Just a note for next time. Resize your pictures down to about 700 pixels wide. That way people don't have to scroll to the side to see the rest of the photo.

I grabbed one of the photos and set it as your avatar. Feel free to change it if you want.

Great detail!! The wheels really stand out!! I believe no matter how much time you spend working on paint, the detail is worthless without perfecting the wheels.

Re: Modded Black A4 set for snow

since you will respray the hood anyways.... why don't you try a little touch up painting and wet sanding combination to see just how close to a total fix you can come to...... if it doesnt work out it wont matter since you repainting it anyways......

maybe after respray it'd be a good idea to get a clear bra
