  • The HORRIBLE aftermath of Body shop/Mech nightmare...

Well got it back yesterday, 6 weeks later!
    What a hassle!
I should have asked you guys for a good Mech.
I'm now done with mine after this job. Here's the first thread on this nightmare http://meguiarsonline.com/forums/showthread.php?t=27039

This is the only pic that looks good

Let's start with them putting the emblem on backwards...

Not installing the lights correctly and the fenders to low...

    There version of detailling....

Oh yea nice job with the washers also...

I told them not to wash it so they just wiped it down and scratched everything, Thanks!

I love that they left me to clean up there tape resadue...

Here's the trunk I wet sanded and was perfect before...

So back out to the garage and finish or maybe I'll go to the beach! I'll post with the results later...and I still have to take it back to finish the job...there still not done!

Huh - Can you take it back and point out the problems? Maybe not the paint problems but the misaligned fender and so on?

It still has to go back for a few parts, ac and to be re-aligned again! But I'm not letting them do anything else.
You'd be amazed how much they charged for this mess! My lawyer said we can take them to court so my gf's contemplating.

Oh yea! they dented the hood also!!!
You can see it to the right of the emblem, a little dip in the paint

That is ridiculous! What is allowing yourself to go back after all the sloppy work?

Well I've decided to pick up the crome and rocker plastic and put it on myself. I re-installed the lights so they have all the screws and don't move. So I'll just finish those parts myself. They're only going to realign it.

I can't believe a professional shop would leave all those buffer trails and swirls in the paint with no final finishing polish step. It looks to me like the paint is a bit hazy too, definately needs that last finishing buff

I can understand the bad buffing job. We have all seen them before. But the rest of the issues are not acceptable. That's really bad.

Haha, believe it! That is in fact what the majority of body shops do. Why? The majority of customers don't know the difference for one, and two I wouldn't doubt that the majority of the body shops don't know either.

                  Scary, but true.

Ouch thats no good! As far as going to the beach.....it was in the 30's here this morning. The beach is closed on the east coast!
If its fast, loud, and runs on a flammable liquid...count me in.

We always expect a bad job on the paint but some things are not acceptable!

I bet when they finished they were proud of their work. It still amazes me when they screw up like this.

I cried when I seen the emblem, because I knew alot was wrong that I couldn't see.

So can anyone recomend a mech in S. OC? I'm not even going to let them re-align it. I need a new mech.
