  • Did a Medium Detail today on my C-Class, bad pictures

Ok, so today I did a Medium detail on my 2008 Mercedes-Benz C300, when visiting a friend. I took all my stuff because I wasn't really wanting to go inside much, and they wanted to see some of the stuff I do to it. ha-ha. It's about 10 months old, but still looks pretty good.

Anyway, I did the wheels with Meguiar's Aluminum wheel cleaner (since it is the gentlest one I had bad experience with the all wheel one).

Then I took the lightest bit of dust off with quick detailer. I had just waxed (with the whole 5 step process or whatever) about 9 days ago (with NXT 2 paste, after clay, cleaner, #7 etc), so after using quick detailer I went ahead and just applied the entire car with a coat of Gold Class paste (which I had wanted to use before but I bought a bad one and meguiar's said they'd replace it, and they never did so I finally just replaced it myself).

Anyway, I sure love Gold Class on this car. It darkens the paint more than NXT 2, in my eyes. The car is palladium silver, which is a darker silver. It looks so much more gorgeous in person.

I also used gold class trim stuff on the trim. Meguiar's glass cleaner, but by the time of the photos the glass wasn't perfect.

The inside I used my regular stuff gold class protectant and QID.

I also did the engine compartment. Nothing fancy, just cleaning it with quick detailers and stuff.

    Here are some pictures though:

You can't tell in the photos, but the hood actually has these annoying scratches and a few swirls, in the perfect light. Makes me sick. Hopefully I can get rid of them when I get the G110.

Sure wish I was a good photographer, but just wanted to share these pictures anyway. I know they ****. Sorry. I wish they showed how nice the paint looks.

Looks good to me! Good job! How do you like the QID? I think that's the only product of Meg's that I just didn't like the results on.
    P.S.....nice car!

Thanks guys for not giving me a hard time on the bad pictures. ha-ha.

          Kind replies. Thanks.

QID - Well, I don't have a big issue with QID, it's just that obviously it leaves things looking dull, so you have to put some kind of protectant too, and then just use QID sometimes to remove dust and whatnot.

          Thanks again all.

great job on the car especially considering all by hand, this new merc c-class is so much better looking. What problem did you have with the Hot Rims All Wheel Cleaner (ive been told not to use on BMW's as there alloys are not clear coated)

QID was meant to be an alternative to the typical greasy, dust-attracting interior treatments.

Some people LOVE it (ie, me), and it isn't for others. I'll tell you what though, it REALLY cleans well and is very gentle- a key characteristic in many interiors. I have a custom painted interior and QID is one of the few products I can trust to safely remove stains without taking off the paint.

Yeah, well it made like the hubs of the car turn funny color, and I had to clean them with a metal polish.

It also corroded my wheel nuts, and they look a bit weird now.

Finally, they made my front calipers get some spots, so yeah, I'm sticking with the very gentle Aluminum wheel cleaner now.

Follow up on QID - Yes, it's a good product, cleaning and smell. Again, I use it all the time, but I do find it leaves a finish even duller new, so that is why I finish it off every now and again with some protectant to richen the color up and then wipe off excess.
