  • 2000 Craftsman Toolbox

So I wanted to do something kinda' fun with this little addiction we here call "Car Crazy"
When I got my first toolbox many, many years ago, my dad told me how he would wax his just like his car. Well, I did that a couple times, but that was it. This morning I woke up early and told myself that this would be kinda' fun.

So this is what I did and used:
Dee Snyder's House of Hair (93.3 KDKB)
2 cups of fresh ground Starbucks espresso roast
    Quick Detail (original) to clean
    Blue Clay on two areas
    M83, orange LC, Flex
    M80, white LC, Flex
    NXT 1.0 applied by hand

    Before:

    After:
    M83

    M80

    Final:

    Forgot to rotate this one!!

    this one too!!

I got a lot of strange looks from people passing by as I was setting these shots up! LOL My neighbors think I'm crazy!

    Lessons learned:

Craftsman uses a REALLY hard, single stage paint. I probably could have got a much clearer shine with more time and additional steps, but this is a toolbox, geez, do you think I'm crazy????

My wife's honey-do list is more important to some than to others!

Lots of sharp corners/folds can tear up your pads:

It occurred to me as I was doing this that this could be a great "tool" to use for someone just getting into the world of detailing. Especially with buffers, da's and rotaries. It's a lot safer than practicing on a car.

Thanks, I hope you can tell I had a lot of fun doing this!!
The power of the flex compells you!!!

Looks good. I just buffed the top of my Crafysman tool box the other day. I usually "detail" it once a year.

That has to be the best looking 8 year old tool box. It looks great. Excellent work.

Weve got the same bottom part of your tool box but I got a different set of drawers on the top. Really nice/fairly cheap tool box. Picked it up around Christmas for the pops, got a great deal on it.... Too bad I use it A LOT more than he does.

Actually, it wasn't that easy. The thing also sits on a 4" walkway in my garage. It's all I can do to bring the thing down and to put it back up without it tipping over. Taking it out of the garage to get those last pics was easy...its got a nice incline!! Rolling it back in takes a bit more effort LOL!!

Thanks for all the compliments guys, I really just wanted to post something fun(ny). Everybody I know thinks that I'm crazy with keeping my cars and stuff clean, and I thought this would really make them think I went over the edge. I love this forum because I know I'm not alone!!

Have a great week, and hello NFL 2008!

                              You ruined it...

Now it's too clean to use...

Move it into the living room for display...
