If any of you were wondering how Meguiar's products perform in *extreme* heat, I'm here to tell you they work great! I spent my 118 degree Saturday performing the top-o-the-line detail job on this 1997 Buick Riviera.
It had been well taken care of until the owner purchased a 1968 Mustang (coming up next)
It was in need of some TLC with some bird droppings, tree sap, and other "mystery goo" stuck to the paint.
Process
Engine
- Greased lightning full strength
- Power wash
- Meg's cleaner wax on painted areas
- No Touch Tire Care (had some laying around) on plastic and hoses
Interior
- Mats pre-treated with Orange Blast (2:1), then pressure washed, extracted with Little Green Machine and hot water
- Carpets pre-treated with Folex, then extracted with LGM and hot water
- dash/plastics wiped down with Woolite 10:1, followed with Turtle Wax Ice interior (had some laying around)
- Leater seats treated with Gold Class Leather Conditioner
Paint
- Clay with Meguiar's clay kit
- M83 on Lake Country Orange CCS pad @ 1700 RPM (I love this stuff!)
- M80 on Lake Country White CCS pad @ 1000 RPM
- NxT via PC at Speed 3 on a W9006 pad
- For tight areas I used a PC with 4" yellow pads (M83) and white pads (M80)
Headlights / Tail lights
- M105 via PC @ Speed 6 on Lake Country 4" yellow pad
- M83 via PC @ Speed 6 on Lake Country 4" white pad
- M80 via pC @ speed 5 on Lake Country 4" white pad
Trim
- Black Wow
Total Time: 9 Hrs
Total Sweat: 2 Gallons
