  • Detailed: 2005 Mercedes E55 (The Sequel)

Most of you may remember this car from 4.5 months. I did an extensive interior/exterior detail on it. I get a call a few days back to "come out and do it again". I thought that this was going to be a breeze.......WRONG! It was in the same condition as before. Well, the interior was. The exterior was still in "ok" shape mainly do to only be washed with an automatic touchless car wash.

    He we go again...........

    Wheels, tires, and wells:

Yep. They were dirty. I used Meguiar's Wheel Brightener at 6:1 on the alloys. ZEP Industrial Purple at 10:1 on the tires and wells. Lower panels and door jams received some as well. I used several brushes to get into the back wheels. They are so wide!

    Wash Cycle:

The paint wash first foamed with a Meguiar's Hyper Wash and ZEP Citrus Degreaser mix. I then rinsed and washed by hand with Hyper Wash. This was is really amazing me. I thought of it as just a bulk wash but it's really good. High sudsing, good cleaning, and high dilution. I'll be getting a gallon soon.

    Paint Compounding:
(Meg's #105 via LC Foamed Purple Wool Pad and rotary)
After more inspection, I did see some new dog nail scratches.......they have Great Danes! 105 worked fast. I worked it fast. I was not trying to get it to come out LSP ready. I just wanted to get this out of the way fast. I then rinsed the vehicle and dried using Meguiar's Last Touch as a drying aid.

    Paint Polishing:
(Meg's #80 via LC Red Finishing Pad and G110)
#80 is simply a polish everyone should have in their armament. Very easy to use and cleans up compounding haze very well. The gloss it leaves is deep and wet. After this stage, I wiped the paint down with an IPA mix.

    Paint Protection:
(Meg's Medallion Paint Protection via LC Red Finishing Pad and G110)
Yep you read right. Meguiar's Medallion Premium Paint Protection. I have a full bottle that I bought from a friend. I just wanted to try something new. This stuff is awesome! Amazing gloss and depth. Sorry that we can't get it anymore. I bet it's not VOC compliant........and I bet it protects forever!

    Interior:
Dear Lord. I was here for about 2 hours......again. There were no signs that I had even been here before. I used blue Latex gloves to gather the dog hair into piles before vacuuming. The leather was cleaned with Meg's APC 20:1 as was the vinyl and carpet. The vinyl was protected with Pinnacle's Vinyl and Plastic Protectant. The leather with Wolfgang's Leather Conditioner. Whew! I needed a bath myself after this!!!!

    Befores........

I have no idea what happened to my exterior befores!
    Here's the interior.....

    Afters.......

Hey that interior wash in very bad condition! nice save!
I don't know how can someone with that car can have it looking like that, maybe that's why I haven't had one yet!

Great work! I guess they love their dog more than their car.

I just saw some more MPPP at a store today. I have a MPPC and MPPP in my personal collection but haven't really used it much.

How and why did they let it get like that again? Good thing they have you around to make it better.

The owners are very wealthy. They just bought a 750iL and they own a Cayenne S. This is their "beater". LOL!

I really don't care how bad it gets now. They call me monthly to do a full detail on it and they pay well!!! Great people too.

Whoa! thats a big difference between the befores and afters. Great job!.

A Merc E55 being a beater car - must be really loaded.

It's on a spring. I forgot to straighten it before I took the pics.

I've got 5+ weeks out of MPPP........then it was waxed again. I like it a lot. You do need to try it.

Beautiful work! As much as it is painful to see beautiful cars like that totally neglected, they do make for the most exciting after pictures!

Awesome job on the car. Especially on the interior. I can't believe they let it get so dirty on a car like that. But like you said this is their beater car. Great job once again.
