  • Picked up my '08 TSX last night

Well I didn't have much time to work on it since it was after dark an late by the time I got her home.

    Wash - Gold Class
Clay - Smooth Surface Clay Kit
    Wax -NXT 2.0

The tops of the car looked good since they had the plastic still on. However, I knew the car had been on the lot for a few months and the sides have some fine/medium scratches in them. Most would not come out with M80 using the FLEX or my PC with only one pass. I also had Micro Marring from the M80 so I swithced to M09. I only tried out a few panels but I may have to step it up to the rotary to remove them all. I will play with it some more when I have more time. I may just live with them for a while too since they really only show under certain lighting (Xenon).

Some pics from eary this moring...sun had just come up and wasn't hitting the car yet so the color isn't the greatest.

i like the second shot, great work so far. looks a nice red. seems strange that #80 wouldnt tackle it, honda paint over here is known to be thinish a very soft, going from posts of civic type r which are common.

I will play with it some more...it could be my technique that is causing the micro marring with M80. The paint does seem very soft so maybe I'm applying too much pressure, over or under buffing...

I did only give it one pass too as it was very late.

Thanks Guys! Coming from a Mazda 6 this thing is a LOT nicer.

Those TSX's look nice. My sister wants to buy one, I told her she needs to give her big brother her '02 3.2CL Type S and buy her a new TSX. She said....Maybe. unlikely. She already had to put a transmission in it. Drives like a maniac. Just under $5,000 for the tranny, good thing for extended warranties!

                Nice car.

Oh it may be that the one pass was not enough (assuming a polishing pad), you need to break down the polish obviously not till its dry but till its clear and hazy, you could follow up with #80 on a finishing pad to solve micro marring, and then the wax. Milder polishes are #82 or #9 i think if micromarring is still apparent or use the finishing pad with Nxt Gen Wax.

Oh also about the pressure before you finish polishing ease to nearly no pressure and slow the machine down a bit. see if this helps burnish the finish

                        Hope this helps

Well I played around with #80 again this weekend and it turns out that I wasn't allowing the polish enough time to break down completely. I have probably been doing this all along and simply didn't notice since I haven't worked on many soft paints like this, which is probably why I never really saw the micro marring issue.

I ended up working a section 12" x 12" for about 90 seconds with the FLEX on a speed of 5 and BINGO!

                            Thanks for the help.

Glad to hear its fixed, i bet it looks stunningly perfect now, all i seem to get is soft paints, Renault, Mini(rover), Vauxhall, Peugeot, Ford (except white). The challenge on the way is gonna be when my dad gets his VW Golf, should have to many problems as my mum is getting a citroen c3 (soft again). The minis the softest and trickiest you can marr and scuff the paint with finger pressure and a MF (its a PITA you have to be careful not to over work it as this makes the polish hard to remove and you dont want to be enthusiatic removing it.
