  • Clio and a Thorough Clean and Wax

    Hiya

This is my detail from last week and i got to try some new products i recently received. Have also given our Mini Mayfair a go .
    • Collinite Super Double Coat Auto Wax No. 476s
    • Forever Black Trim Dye
    • Forever Black Tyre Dye
Wash usual 2BM with GC and Nxt Megs mix, plus Wash Mitt.
Befores not really worth bothering with as not too bad. The start was removing the rear number plate which i know is original back from 2003 as it had Lookers the original supplier. i spent ages rubbing the pads with my finger and heat from the hair dryer , I had got some new backing plate stickers and also Autoglym Intensive Tar remover, my first impressions are brilliant i got the plate on wrong first time (not straight/central) and poured the AG tar down the back and came of with ease. also removes polish oils and silicones.

(masking off the old area did not help getting the new one in place, i found finding the centers of each much better)

Next was to tackle the wheel area ( i must confess i did miss a few bits at the back of the arch) wheels were removed and AG tar cleaned the backs wonderfully, and Megs GC polish applied to inners. APC and Fairy Liquid was for the arches and a cheap spray for trim is used for dressing.
Car was cleansed with Megs DC1 removing a few very light marks from what is very soft paint. And Gold Class Liquid Wax for a good prep before the Collinite.

    Before Wheels and Arches:

    After Wheels and Arches:

Door shuts, hinges all Apc'd and waxed Megs GC wax.

    Interior a quick vaccum out:

    After Collinite Pre Forever Black
Whole car waxed with colly 476s inlcuding the wheels.

    Onto Forever Black:

    Afters:
Megs Trim detailer and Hot shine tyre spray had been applied

So some impressions of stuff i have used,
Autoglym Intensive Tar Remover - simple to use and very effective as most AG stuff is.
Collinite 476S- very impressed the paint was so smooth and slick
Forever Black Tyre Dye- very good, has stopped my tyres turning brown even though the the tyre dressing has washed off.
Forever Black Trim Dye - not so keen on this one. it makes trim look dark but its such hard work to apply evenly (tried its applicator, Megs Applicator, a brush, kitchen paper towels) and sticks to the paint needing the tar remover to clean it off. i will only be using it faded trim like that of my fiesta as it is not worth it over trim detailer IMHO.
Oh a few beading which thought looked cool.
