  • First detail of the summer (my Mustang)

Welp since "summer" has started I took a good four hours today to "work" on the car. I wash it at least once a week and try to do the interior as often, engine bay always gets a quick wipe down. But the car needed a fresh coat of wax (no clay or polish needed though), and everything could use a good deep cleaning. So that's how I spent my afternoon before I took it out tonight to show off at the local car meet.
    • Put on the 3.8mustang.com decals I got the other day. One on the bottom of the inside of the hood, and one on the bottom of the inside of the trunk (not pictured).
    • Detailed the engine bay. Degreased everything metal (valve covers, brackets, lower intake), removed a few OEM Ford decals, diluted simple green to remove dirt/dust from the plastics, hoses, pulleys, inner fenders, etc. Rinsed everything off, warmed up the motor, and coated it all with F21 tire shine. Let it sit and then gave it a final wipe down with a damp rag. Waxed the underside of the hood and inner fenders with NXT 2.0, and polished the CAI, hood shocks, and CC plates with Meguiars "Hot Rims" chrome polish.
    • Rinsed entire undercarriage of the car. Wiped down whatever I could reach with soap/water and got everything clean underneath the car (not pictured).
    • Cleaned exhaust tips, polished with "Hot Rims."
    • I had already done the interior on Wednesday, but I cleaned the inner door sills and whatnot, greased up my squeeky door hinge with WD40.
    • Scrubbed the inner fenderwells, rinsed, dried with a towel, and given a coat of spray-on tire shine.
    • Tires were scrubbed, inner rims scrubbed clean, brake calipers cleaned.
    • Rims washed with Gold Class, dried, waxed with NXT 2.0, rewashed and redried.
    • Tires got a coat of "Hot Shine" tire gel applied with a foam applicator.
    • Paint was washed with a mixture of Deep Crystal car wash and Gold Class shampoo, dried with Absorbers. Then waxed with NXT 2.0. Went over entire car with Quik-Detailer to try and help remove the left over wax residue but it wasn't working (I need to pick up some Ultimate Quik Detailer), so I re-washed and re-dried the car.
    • Plastic wiper cowl and mirrors were coated with Mothers Back-to-Black.

One question though. How do you clean the honeycomb?? I travel down a dirt road every weekend and it seems to cake in there no matter how much I rinse it.

Honestly the honeycomb has never gotten dirty enough for me to need to get it cleaned. I wipe it off when I'm washing the car and it's clean enough for me. I know at one point I took them out of the side scoops and gave 'em a coat of Mothers Back-to-Black because they weren't as shiny as they had been, but ever since then they've just been washed/rinsed. Sorry I can't be of more help!

                        Hi Raymond!

Local car meet??? Local car meet? And where, pray tell, might those be? Should I be reading that website you directed me to (that I have since forgotten)?

Please send info about Mustang meets in Miami. I would like to bring my pony to one.

                        Lynn

PS... car looks great! I love the one with the other Mustang reflected in yours....LOL!
