Re: Pinstripe removal is not fun!

Well, today we did the drivers side of the car, so the car no longer has any pinstripes! WOOT!! Looks so much better now.

We also removed the thick black rubber "door guards" that the previous owner stuck onto the edges of the door to keep it from getting dinged. They stood out like a sore thumb so they had to come off lol.

You won't believe what we found when we removed the pinstripes though... the drivers rear quarter panel had been repainted by the previous owner, and whoever did it STOPPED AT THE PINSTRIPE. You couldn't tell before because the dual pinstripe the car had hid the paint line... but now you can see a line from where they painted VS the original Honda paint. Needless to say we're a little pissed off about that, but thankfully from anywhere other than up close the line doesn't stand out too much. It's a perfectly straight line that stops at the body line more or less so it isn't horrible... but still noticeable to me and any of you guys haha.

Tommorow we're debadging the trunk, and then I'm finally going to give the car the clay/wax treatment it's needed... so expect finished pictures by Saturday.

Just for future reference, the 3m eraser wheel handles pinstripes and the like with ease. I've used it on pinstripes (duh!) and also on the glue residue that gets left behind after you remove molding or those stupid plaques dealers insist on putting on cars. I have found that when the surface is cool the wheel actually works better. So either a heat gun OR the eraser wheel works better in my experience.
