  • My brother's 2007 V6 Mustang (black)

Did this detail a few weeks ago and just got around to getting the pictures uploaded. We did this on his spring break from school on Friday morning. It was very hot/sunny out so we set up the blue tent to keep the car a little cooler and just so we would have some shade to work with.
    • Wash with Megs Gold Class Shampoo + Megs Deep Crystal car wash mixture (with microfiber wash mitt)
    • Dry with Absorber
    • Clayed the entire car with the Megs Smooth Surface kit... for a car with 1k miles the hood, roof, and trunk had a lot more contaminents than I expected. Nothing too crazy though
    • Polished with Megs Deep Crystal polish, applied by hand with a Megs foam applicator pad
    • Waxed with a coat of Megs NXT 2.0 applied by hand as well.
    • Then went over the whole car with Megs Quik Detailer and a microfiber to get rid of the left-over residue from the wax.
Wheels were rinsed, sprayed with Turtle Wax Wheel Cleaner, rinsed again. Insides were scrubbed with an AutoZone wheel brush I recently got, worked very well. Outside face of the wheels were scrubbed with an old microfiber mitt and left-over soapy water from the wash.

Tires were scrubbed as well, and given a coat of Megs Hot Shine Tire Gel.

Exhaust tips were polished using the Megs Hot Rims Mag&Aluminum Polish.

Interior and engine bay had been detailed prior by us.

Took a good half of the day, with me basically teaching him how to clay, polish, and wax the car, and letting him do it himself so he could learn. While he was doing one thing I would be doing another though, like while he was on the paint I was scrubbing the wheels, etc etc. Now he knows how to keep the car in good shape. I was very impressed with the results as well.

Awesome reflections in that black paint - nice one!

We can go out for a drive without her makeup and she looks fine. If I want to take the black one out, it is three or four hours in the "bathroom" to get ready.

Your brother's Mustang looks great. Great reflection shots. The paint looks like it is still wet. Great job.

Thanks guys! I appreciate all the compliments.

I have a question though, the lower sideskirts on the car are ABS plastic, and the car gets a cover put on it a lot because it isn't being driven too often right now (that will change soon lol), well the cover has holes in the side for a cable to connect the sides and keep the cover on the car when the wind blows. We didn't have the cable, so we were using a bungee cord with metal hooks on the end. Well, it worked, but whenever the wind blew and moved the cover around, the metal hooks scratched up the plastic trim.

It's not bad, or very noticeable, but it's bad enough for us to complain about seeing as the car has NO other defects on it LOL. Any suggestions for removing light surface scratches from black plastic? I really don't think much can be done, but I'm still curious.

Try attaching some sort of coth flap over the holes on the cover, kind of like a pocket. Just sow a square (cut up microfiber perhaps?) over the slot for the bungie cord leaving an opening on the side the cord enters through. The pressure will still be there, but at least it is through the means of a soft cloth.

                    Nice work.

Everything looks clean and shiny, best of all you educated your brother on many of the basics he needs to know in order to keep that black Mustang looking it's best.

Yeah, we actually wrapped the metal hooks with a lot of black electrical tape so it doesn't do it anymore. I was just trying to see if there was a way to get rid of the scratches already there. Thanks though!
