  • My first ever full detail on my 2008 Scion xB.

Feel like I am gonna die... But at least my car is spotless!

    The rundown:

Wash, Clay, Paint Cleaner, Scratch X'd a few spots, Polish, and then finished with coat of NXT 2.0.

Yes, I had the help of my PC 7424!

Overall, it came out really nice. I didn't take my time as much as I should have (as in working small area's at a time, slow movements) , but results are still very good. The xB now has a nice wet finish appearance, mirror reflection, and a glass smooth surface. Took out some swirls but still have some here and there My main focus on this detail was the swirl removal on the back hatch from winter "debris". You should of seen how much the clay took off of that back hatch! Regardless, it should be a near perfect finish after how much work I put into it! Ill see tomorrow when the sun is a' shinin'!

I'm just glad I wont have to do this for a long time! Ten hours was a lot of work!

Here are a few pics. Sorry if they are blurry, was getting dark so even the reflections aren't as clear as they could be!

Nice job! Pic's look good. Ten hours though? you'll get that down as you do it more often. Don't be scared of doing a compleat wax job. The next time you do this you can get all the spots you missed and so on for the next time. Your car will look awsume the more you do it.

      Complete wax job?

I did a complete wax job, for sure. I was just saying some of the steps before it were a *little* rushed. I hope I can get the time better because ten hours was a long time. I don't know how to cut it down though, I was just doing all the steps...

But this is my "large detail of the year", so will have time to get better I guess you can say. I plan to do a polishing ever few months and frequent waxing, but a full detail much more sparingly. There are a few area's though that I will most likely touch up in the next few washes

Wow ! Awesome job there..another example of a black car that makes me regret not getting my truck in black..
The branches on the reflection are so sharp and clear!

I say 10 hours for your first complete detail not bad. Remember there is a learning curve. As you become more familiar with the products and process your time will come down. Your Scion looks great. You did excellant work. Really like the reflection shots. Great work way to go.

Yeah, looking back I do believe I can cut it down at least two hours next time.

When dealing with paint cleaner, its more of a quick work in and wipe right? I think I worked it in a bit too long because it was always a little harder to wipe. That slowed me down a bit, but at the end I caught on, haha.

But the more I do it obviously I will get better at it. Hoping for 7.5-8hrs next time! haha
