  • My IS350

This is not exactly a new job (I did it last week) and just went outside and gave it a quick once over with QD (its been in the garage and was pretty clean).

It's not perfect, but looks pretty good. Here is what I did.

    1. Wash - NXT Car Wash

    2. Clay - Clay Magic clay bar with Megs Quick Detailer

    3. Deep Crystal Paint Cleaner

    4. Show Car Glaze #7

    5. Wax NXT 1.0 - Twice

    6. NXT spray wax (midweek as a booster)

    7. Wheels done with the same car wash as for the car and soft scrub brushes (various).

    8. Tires - Hot Shine Tire Gel x 2

    9. Interior (not pictured) - Megs Interior Detailer

capslock is kind of hard to read.... and it is best to use some kind of paint cleaner to prep the surface prior to waxing because it will last longer..... and DC1 paint cleaner is very mild.... if it was me i would have just threw some 80 at it because im too lazy to rub the whole car with DC1 by hand....

notice that he said that he just QDed it... not rewax it..... but im sure theres many people on here that occationally redetail there car for a few consecetive weekends in a row because they found more swirls they failed to take out the time before......

anyways the car looks very very nice...... pretty hard to get white paint to reflect like that....very great work

                  Re: My IS350

                  Thanks guys!

The reason why I chose to do so much this time around is that this is the first detail job I've done on the car. I just got it about 2-3 weeks ago and I've been dying to get to it, but the weather has been lousy.

I wanted to ensure I started right.

I'm not following the "too much wax" statement. In the OP's writeup he stated he applied 2 coats of wax. This is typically the norm. Mike himself will tell you that 2 light coats of wax is a good thing. Not sure if I'm misunderstanding something...
A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools.

I think the issue was with my midweek "booster" with the spray wax. Meh... who knows, maybe it was overkill, maybe it wasn't, but I had time on my hands, it certainly wouldn't hurt the car, so I don't really see a problem with it.
