gave the girlfriends' Holden Astra (96) a detail today, and it was absolutely filthy. i didnt get any before pics but i do have an in-progress photo of #80 at work on the bonnet (or hood, as you guys' call it). but first the method.
-washed with NXT gel and washed hubcaps with leftovers.
-clayed with QD and SS clay bar-this didnt give the results i was hoping for as the paint was too far gone. i think it had begun to oxidize.
-one pass of #80 with random orbital and orange CCS pad, i know this is against recommendation but it was necessary in this case, and left the finish LSP ready. wasnt aiming for perfection anyway really.
-one coat of NXT liquid.
-vacuumed and 303'd interior, GC trim detailer'd the external plastics, meg's glass cleaner on windows and NXT metal polysh on badges, hot shine sprayed the tyres.
this is the in progress pic, unfortunately i didnt tape off a section (as i wasnt expecting such incredible results) but you can easily see where i have worked and what is still to be buffed. the left side of the cloud has not been buffed. this is after washing and claying, on the left hand side of the bonnet.
i know it looks like a storm cloud passing under the white, but believe me that is just the oxidization and film of grime (i dont think this car has ever been waxed-well, not for a year or two anyway). the etchings you can barely see towards just-above-centre of the photo on the un-worked side came straight off with one pass of #80 speed glaze. awesome!

next we have an after pic of the bonnet, moved out of cover into the sun(set). this is with wash, clay, one pass of #80 and one coat of NXT. the car looks like new again, except for the stone chips.

and an overall shot after final wipe down. trust me when i say before today the tree reflection wouldve just been a blob of green!

i had previously used #80 on my own car but found the results harder to judge, now i am well and truly convinced!
