  • 2004 Jeep Liberty Sport; First Rotary!!!

    Hey all...

I'm not sure if you remember or not, but about a month ago, somebody covered the Liberty in shaving cream. It stained a lot of the paint and the plastic. I decided that I had nothing to loose, so I went ahead and borrowed my friends (94BMW325CIS) Harbor Freight rotary buffer. I figured, its either going to be stained for ever, or I mess something up, either way its going to look bad. The other option was for it to look great. Well, I burned through all the plastic, burnt through a wool pad on the hood and cause some serious rotary burn. The Jeep looks horrible...

Just kidding!!!! It turned out great in my opinion... I used M80 with a W-8006 at about 1400 rpm on the whole car. Topped with NXT 2.0 and UQD. Trim got Trim Detailer, wheels with Hot Shine Gel and Wheel Wells with Hyper Dressing.

Here are the pictures, these were taken today, 2 washes and about three weeks later, so compensate for the wax a little. We also got new tires for the Jeep, Goodyear Wrangler Silent Armor, 265/70/16, no Scott, I didn't copy you.

    On to the pictures...

Thanks for looking and please comment...

I agree...it took some getting used to, but after that it was smooth sailing. For somebody using it every once in a while it is probably fine, but I wouldn't recommend it to somebody using it frequently.

        Thanks for the comments!!

Nice job!! That looks great! You can hardly even see the buffer trails in the picture! Lol. I like those black rims on there too...they look just right (that's one of two vehicles that I've liked black rims on, so that's saying a lot).

You had me worried at first. I was thinking wow is he calm for messing up so bad. I'm happy it was a just kidding. Looks great!

I love those tires!!! How do you like them? I did a lot of research before I bought mine and am really happy with them so far. I was thinking the same as Lydia, I like the rims. Not to copy you but what make and model are those? Do you have spacers on yours?

Well, since I copied your tires, I guess I could tell you about the wheels...just kidding. They are American Racing ATX Series Chamber with ****** They are a 16in rim, I'm not sure of the backspacing, but I know that they do not have spacers. I can't believe how silent the tires are!!! When we bought them I was thinking they were going to be super loud because of how nobby they are, but not at all. They are just as quiet as a street tire!! We haven't taken them offroading yet, but we're hoping to do so this weekend.

                Thanks for the comments!!

Very, very nice work. I have yet to use a rotary and hope I never have to use one with the same reason as you! Great results!

Very nicely done Ryan, good for you!! The rotary is fun, isn't it? Very different animal but nothing to be afraid of, as long as you respect it and understand how different it is from the DA. And as long as you pay attention to what you're doing!!

The Liberty looks great - it's lucky it has you!!

Thanks Mike!! Yea, the rotary is really different. Really fast and really different. The best thing that kept me going was when we did Jonathon's moms car, he told me to just let the rotary move your arms, not the other way around. The times that I was struggling the most was when I was trying to move the rotary a certain way and it wanted to go another, once I remembered to just let it go, things worked out great!!

                          Thanks for the comments!!

I'm not sure...I'm thinking it would be a good investment, but I'm also eager to try the G110 and see what that is like. I might buy one(rotary), but it will probably be the same $30 that I used. I just wouldn't use on enough to spend the $150-200 on a good one.

                              Thanks for the comments!!
