  • Latest Detail: My '04 Mustang ^duw^

Interior, trunk, and engine bay were already cleaned the week before by yours truly. Wheels weren't clean, but they were clean enough for me to ignore them and focus on getting the paint done. Tires got tire shine and inner fenderwells were scrubbed down. As for the paint:
    • Washed with off brand soap (just using it up so I can buy Gold Class), using a mitt.
    • Dried with absorber, leaf blower + a drive around the block to get rid of ALL the water.
    • Claybar with Meguiars Smooth Surface Kit
    • Coat of Meguiars "Deep Crystal" Polish
    • Coat of Meguiars "Deep Cystal" Carnuaba Wax
Results are awesome. Now I just need a machine so I can start doing correction and proper polishing. Need to remove the swirls off the paint instead of just hide them LOL.

Within the next few weeks, the suspension, exhaust, and a few other appearance goodies will be done. You guys can expect another photoshoot then.

hahaha the hood picture confused you all!

Yeah, I use a tri-pod for all my pictures these days because it really helps keep the noise and blur out of the pictures. For that last shot I set the tri-pod up, took a picture with the hood open, and then closed the hood, and took another picture without moving the camera or tri-pod. Then I opened up photoshop, selected the engine bay off one picture, placed it on top, then place the same picture (hood closed) on top again, and faded it until I got the desired effect.

              Thanks for all the compliments!

Thanks for all the compliments guys. I've been doing automotive photography for a while now and like to think I do pretty well. I'm just limited in my equipment (I'm using a fairly cheap point'n'shoot digital camera)... so I try to make up for it by playing with the settings, making sure I have good lighting to work with, and finding new areas to take pictures in. It's a lot of fun!

That hood trick seems to be known only for the most part by Mustang owners. I have only seen them done on Mustangs.

I have been wanting a tripod for some time. What kind do you have?

Fairly cheap one I took off my dad's hands. He bought it to use during the holidays when family comes over and he video tapes and stuff. It was a $30 Maxell one. Very lightweight, sturdy enough to stay in place though as long as it's on solid ground.
