We have had the first warm and nice days this year the last days, so now it was time to attack the A6. The finish was very swirled, worn and obviously not taken care of the last years. I bought the car in October 2006 and haven't had the chance to fix it up yet..
I fixed some rust spots on the tailgate and one spot with peeling paint on the RF door..
How I did it:
1. Wash with NXT
2. Tar remover
3. Claying (the clay got really dirty!)
4. #85, wool cutting pad and Makita rotary on the wet-sanded spots and a few other places.
5. #80, W7000 and rotary
6. #80, W8000 and rotary
7. #82, W9000 and orbital
8. NXT Tech Wax
I'm really satisfied with the result. Most of the swirls are long gone, not much left. The car really stands out in the average parking lot, and I have to say that it's not bad for being 11 years old with 160K miles.. Of course there are scratches and paint chips (as you see in the pictures), but that's just normal wear & tear, I think..
I did not have any dressing for the black plastic and the tires, will buy on monday if I remember, together with a bottle of QD to preserve the shine..

Reflection shots:

And finally one in the parking lot. Except for the Audi 80 next to my car which looked reasonably good (except the wheels!), all the other cars are faded, dirty, scratched etc. I'd love to detail the red Volvo 850 with faded paint!
