A friend of mine and his daughter have been campaigning a Jr. Dragster for the last 5 years or so. They stepped up over the winter with a new car, new paint and new engine. Don't think for a minute that these things don't run, this car will do an 8.5 second 1/8 mile at about 80 mph. That's on a single cylinder, air cooled, alky burning engine. Anyway, I cut/buffed the paint with 3000 unigrit, 85 (rotary), 83 (rotary), 80 (PC), 7 (PC), 16 (PC). Couldn't get an agle that showed the shine that well, but it does look wet.

Re: Very Interesting Detail - Jr. Dragster
Stang, I'll check with the Crew Chief (otherwise known as the Dad) on the 60' times. It may be a few days, they leave today for a race. I'm expecting a "best appearing" award.Bubba

Re: Very Interesting Detail - Jr. Dragster
Well, she did very good. Since it rained on Friday / Saturday, they did not judge for Best Appearing (dang it!!). But Crew Chief Dad says folks would be walking by in the pits and they would just stop and stare. Even with the clouds, the reflections were extreme. In the staging lanes other racers Dads and Moms would ask "what kind of wax did you use?".
Now for the performance side of the story, see the picture below. She won the Texas Raceway Spring Fling. So, I would say she did outstandingly well. Here's a quote from Crew Chief Mom "The job you did on the dragster was great, almost too good. That car was soooo slick we could not slow it down!!! By the rules, she can not run faster than 8.90 but with the slick job you did on her car, the poor child had to sit on an extra 3 - 5# bags of bird shot to try and slow her down but she still ran 8.85!!! (Ooops)". Driver Candi-Beth said her butt hurts, but it was well worth it for the 1st place Win! Now that sounds like a true driver talking, where is ESPN when you need them?
